When an unknown someone shoots him and leaves him to die, Harry Dresden hopes he might be heading to a better place. Unfortunately being dead doesn't make Harry's life any easier.

Yay for James Masters narrating!!!
Absolutely loved listening to this with the updated narration!!! James Masters is Harry Dresden. It just didn't sound right before. Thank you for making the change. <3

Loved it
I was recently awoken to the futility of reviews and their stifled but valiant attempt to convey meaning, it’s just a damn good book that was entertaining as hell in quiet moments. Best way to show my appreciation was to review it.

Hells Bells! What will Jim think of next?
I mean, where do you go after Changes?
Like Harry, I guess you ask questions:
- What would Dresden’s experience of the afterlife be?
- How would all the rules change if Harry no longer has corporeal form?
- Who is waiting for him on the other side?
- How would his friends cope and develop after he’s gone?
- How would Harry reflect on his life and how would he change?
- Who are the heroes if Dresden can’t be?
- Who is working behind the scenes?
- And of course that all pervading question - How will he get out of this one?!?!
I acknowledge many of the criticisms in some other reviews, but perhaps don’t let them sway you too much - there’s plenty of heart in this one, some great adventures and confounding twists and, most importantly, delicious new ideas and reveals.

Worth the Wait
I've read all the books in this series including the on that follows this one. I had to wait until it was redone with the original narrator, James Marsters. I'm rather astounded that producers of audio books do not realise the importance of a narrator and that when they replace one mid series, they what they are doing is the equivalent of a replacing the entire cast in a TV show.
I am pleased that I got to listen to this one as I found the story line well written from a rather unique viewpoint. It's still Harry. He still gets into a heap of trouble and is saved by luck and friends as well as his skills but with the twist of having to operate under the laws of being a ghost.
As always the reader turns the book into a play and we hear our familiar characters come to life again.

Dresden does it again.
Jim Butcher continues to teach us about Dresden, to explore his depths and his increasing maturity. Great character development! And this along with a story that you don’t want to stop listening to, bravo! The narrator James Marsters is now Dresden to me and continues with another great performance. Bravo Bellissimo 💐💐💐

Is Jim getting better?
Seriously, by book 11 or 12 I feel most authors are just going through the motions. This was great and I can't wait to listen to the next one.
