Publisher's Summary

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is Chicago's only openly practicing wizard. He is also dead broke. His vast knowledge and magical skills are unfortunately matched by his talent for making powerful enemies and alienating friends. With little more than his integrity left, he accepts an offer of work from Lt. Karin Murphy of Chicago's Special Investigations Unit. He wants to redeem himself in Murphy's eyes and make enough money to quiet his rumbling stomach.

Soon he finds himself pinned between trigger-happy FBI agents, shape-shifiting motorcycle gang members, a threatened mobster boss, and an heir to an ancient curse along with his primal fiance. Throw in environmental activists and a pair of young werewolves in love and you have something of Fool Moon.

Another solid story

So happy that the narrator has found his stride and given us a greater range and depth in his performances; one of my disappointments in the previous book was the lack of drama and expression in the narration and this definitely improves from then. Great to hear.

The story is fine. It’s good. Just perhaps a little….drawn out at times? I feel like there were a few key scenes where an entire paragraph of what just happened was missing, it then it is often described later on.

Overall enjoyable and will definitely get the next book.

This is a great follow up novel in the Dresden files series. The story, characterisation and narration was so good I finished it in a couple of days. Highly recommended.

Good

My god it’s a good story but I just don’t dig the narrator I’ll most probably listen to the rest because I’m interested in what happens but the bloody narrator is so monotone. But that’s just me. 😀

Story was Better than the first book

This book was darker and deeper into the arcane.
It finally got the henchman Morgan off his case which must have been a relief.
I enjoyed the fact that Harry keeps trying to keep his magic white when his opponents are winning by using black magic.
This book made it clear why Harry does try to be a clean wizard,,as he makes the reader/ listener realise just how addictive black magic can be and the result of its use.

Enjoyable.

Was a good time, well narrated.
Only downside was that some characters behave in completely psychotic behaviour for no reason at all and the protagonist takes it lying down.

Wolf-it-Down

This audiobook was mind-bogglingly bad. Or at least it was until I realised that it's not supposed to be just a modern fantasy magical adventure, but also doubles as a slapstick black comedy. After I figured this out, I had a riot. It's genuinely funny, and even a little bit gripping.

The fabulous incompetence of the lead, Harry Dresden is excellent, together with some fine stereotypes (loved the trigger happy cops), and giggles over magiical nonsense.

It's well written and well read, but complete tosh. Give it a go. LoL.
