    "Why did you change narrator?"

The change of narrator was painful. The mispronouncing of names had me auto correcting in my head everytime.
    Short and sweet storyline.

    "Disappointing narration ruined story"

Bring back Jeffry Kafer! The story's continuity is ruined with the poor, gratingly monotonous, and dry narration. I can't finish the audio and sadly gave it up 1/4 to the book. It's just not the same, and the seemingly interesting story is no longer sustainable. Very disappointed. The author and publisher should really bring back Jeffry K. He is as much part of the story and not having him has really killed this saga like the hero in the book we came to believe in.

    "Good Story, bad narration"
Would you try another book from Ryk Brown and/or David Drummond?

    Yes

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Bring back the original narrator of the series.

How could the performance have been better?

The narration was lifeless. It took me a few chapters to become reacquainted to the old characters. I didn't realize how much I associated certain characters with the previous narrators performance. I was confused and distracted from the story trying to recall which character was which and their backstories based on the previous books.

    Any additional comments?

The book was probably ok. I cant tell if my dislike is purely story or narrator based... The bottom line is that I cannot listen to a series over a dozen books long with one narrator then just change like this.It would be different if they were all different characters but to have the same characters with different voices, accents and emotions just takes away from the story.I like David Drummond, I enjoy his narration in other series and would be bothered if he was replaced in them. But the bottom line is that I am done with the audiobooks for this series, I will go back to the kindles and read them in Jeffrey Kafers voice.

    "BOYCOTT - DO NOT PURCHASE"

Boycott this book until Jeffery Kafer can continue this series. Do not give them any money to continue with the new narrator. Vote me up to start this boycott.

I f you love this great book series you WON'T buy this book. For some unknown reason Jeffery Kafer is no longer the brilliant narrator. After investing 14 books of creating the "voices", attitudes with care and intonation it is shocking to replace Kafer with another LESSER narrator who not only pronounces established characters names differently, he cannot match the established "voice" of them.

Good luck determining if Jessica is a man or a woman speaking, good luck wondering why her kick-butt, sarcastic attitude is replaced by whine. This guy doesn't get the characters, he didn't create their voices. I'm guessing he didn't listen to Kafer's style at all.

The new narrator also sounds like he is trying not to wake up his wife in the room next door as he whispers the words in your ear.

I am not related to Kafer or anyone else associated with the producers of this series. I am just a fan of the book series that has waited a 11 months to hear the new Part2 series. With major disappointment. You will be too

    "Bad narration. So dissapointed"

I was excited to see a new story in the series and made the mistake of just spending the credit without paying attention that the Narrator changed. The Narrator would be good for a deep voice "movie coming soon" commercial or a biography but horrible for a audio book where you need a range of voices and emotion. Maybe three pitches in his voice and hard to tell when the person talking is female or male. All males sounded the same and all females just a tiny pitch higher. It was hard to pay attention to the story because there was just NO way to stay interested and vested in the characters when everyone sounds the same and there is almost 0 emotion in his voice...

Need to bring back Jeffery K as the narrator. This one makes the characters sound too much like wining cartoon characters. He also should have reviewed the pronoun cistron of character names in previous books. Liked the story but the narrator left me discouraged.

I love these books and have listened to the first ones (part 1 books) 3 times. Jeffrey kafer narrated them brilliantly however the new narrator David Drummond is awful to the point of boredom.

    So disappointed

    "The new narrator is garbage."

I can not believe they have done this. People who follow and love this series have already spent a load of money listening to this point and now they bring out a new series and they change the narrator. He is absolute garbage. HOWEVER the story is fantastic as usual.

    "Brilliant book. Dreadful narration"

I loved the first volume of this book series. After reading other reviews of this book I was tempted to give it a miss, as they all same said that the narration was poor. It turns out they were correct, but it because i noticed that the narrator has been changed for the next book I decided to tuff it out so as not to miss any of the story line. The first half was hard going but because the story was so good the second half was easier. The most annoying thing was the marg Simpson voice for some of the female characters - totally wrong!
My advice for other listeners is to sick it up, as the story does make up for the narratpe 's performance.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    So disappointed

The new narrator is just abysmal. Sorry but words fail me. It's as though he is narrating a children's bedtime story rather than possibly the best science fiction drama I've ever read...

"Another great book in the series; poor narration"
If you could sum up Escalation in three words, what would they be?

    More great sci-fi.

How could the performance have been better?

I've dedicated a considerable portion of my life listening to Ryk Brown's fantastic series of books. Until this far in the series, all were narrated by Jeffrey Kafer. Unfortunately, Drummond - while clearly a competent voice actor - inexplicably seems to insert pauses in sentences where there shouldn't be, doesn't seem to have a great range of accents and overall I don't think did a great job portraying the very diverse characters in this book.

I loved the original story but this was a little bewildering . ended well. the voice actor was annoying compared to last series with weird pausing in sentances ( like Ronald Reagan) and every radio transmission bizarrely made to sound like limited bandwidth 1930's.
