Publisher's Summary

The multiple-award-winning science-fiction master returns to the universe that is his greatest triumph - the world of Hyperion and The Fall ofHyperion - with a novel even more magnificent than its predecessors.

Dan Simmons's Hyperion was an immediate sensation on its first publication in 1989. This staggering multifaceted tale of the far future heralded the conquest of the science-fiction field by a man who had already won the World Fantasy Award for his first novel (Song of Kali) and had also published one of the most well-received horror novels in the field, Carrion Comfort. Hyperion went on to win the Hugo Award as Best Novel, and it and its companion volume, The Fall of Hyperion, took their rightful places in the science-fiction pantheon of new classics.

Here, Simmons returns to this richly imagined world of technological achievement, excitement, wonder and fear. Endymion is a story about love and memory, triumph and terror - an instant candidate for the field's highest honors.

Different, but good

Probably the weakest book in the series, but still a good read. I thought the priests chapters were more interesting that Raul's. Also I'm pretty sure the reader accidentally forgot what voice he gave some characters and changed them during the second half of the book.

Don’t expect any form of closure, this is part 1 only

This book felt like a just setup for a sequel. While the characters and world are interesting, there is not much of a story here and everything is left to be continued in the next book.
This was also the case in the first Hyperion to some extend, but at least the stories of each characters were compelling and had ends.
here, there are only loose threads.

Dan Simmons does it again.

Great continuation of the Hyperion Cantos series in an even more vivid and dangerous future.

Great sequel to an amazing story

A must read if you liked Hyperion, although prepare for the story to become mystical

Excellent

I thought Hyperion was a great story, then fall of Hyperion was better. Endymion so good can’t wait for Rise of Endymion.

Always a Joy

I’m reading this for the third time, and I still love every moment of it! The story is compelling and the foreshadowing you see coming together is amazing. 100% recommend, one of my favourite book series
