The first instalment of The Lunar Chronicles - a futuristic reenvisioning of Cinderella in which Cinder is a cyborg mechanic.

A forbidden romance. A deadly plague. Earth's fate hinges on one girl....

Cinder, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She's reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desires of an evil queen - and a dangerous temptation.

Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth's future.

This is not the fairy tale you remember. But it's one you won't forget.

love love loved it

I only had one issue and it was the steriotypical Australian accent of the Prime Minister of Australia but that's only because I'm Australian and don't know anyone with an accent like that but seeing as this was only a few sentences in the entire book I can look past it haha regardless an amazing story and performance non the less

Pretty good

I really enjoyed the book... I kinda guessed what was going to happen but it was still enjoyable watching how it unfolded. For a while I had avoided it but then I was like 'suck it up and read/listen to it!' And I did and am happy that I did.

A Fun 3.5 Star Read

I am a massive fan of fairytale retellings and had just finished up “as old as time” when I started this audiobook. I really don’t have too many thoughts. It was a fun and quick read for sure, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment I was listening to it. I do like the elements the author used from the original Cinderella and the futuristic aspect it entwined with.
However, and this is the only reason I think it’s a 3.5 stars instead of a 4, the love story was not that great. While the flirty and secretive relationship was fun to read about, there was not enough intimacy between the two characters to really pull me in. Most of their conversations were banter or about the secret. I did not feel as though they got close or trusted / cared for each other progressively as the novel continued. It simply hit a point which felt too superficial to believe that they REALLY cared for each other and it just stayed there with no development for the rest of the book.
Again, a really fun read and would definitely recommend. Am heading to get Scarlett, the second instalment of the series, ASAP.

You won't want to stop

I loved the idea of a futuristic version of the Cinderella story, complete with cyborg elements. The characters are really strong and the likeable ones are so very likeable. Can't wait to read the next in the series - Scarlet - based on Little Red Riding Hood.

Captivating

I enjoy retellings of fairy tales and the new spins that are introduced to the stories I grew up with. This did not disappoint me.

10/10 recommend!

The plot is awesome and the characters are really well done. The voice actor is also great. The best audio book actors are the ones where you forget about their voice and just get absorbed in what they’re saying… no annoying features to this narrators voice at all.

Awesome series

This is a reread for me, being in a reading slump I decided to read an old favourite. I thought it was just going to be the first book, but I have now started the second book. Looks like I'm reading the whole series again...
