Sad decline of an entertaining series

The early volumes in the Academy series were entertaining fun but at this end of the series it’s getting tedious. The unimaginative US-centric world view has become more glaring with the North American Union apparently having absorbed Canada and Mexico without leaving a single cultural trace. There are 2 brief references which suggest that Europe exists, but China, India, Russia, etc apparently do not. Most of the characters are as professional as school kids, and the lack of planning for a year long trip across the galaxy is just exasperating.
