Tried & tried.

Probably a good story in there somewhere, interesting idea, but it felt like a slow, so slow, set up for the next episode / instalment. Took several attempts & stubbornness on my part to see it through. Would benefit from some editing, & a decision as to what genre it mostly wants to be. Sometimes I loved the words, & other times not so much, but then if I was caught up I wouldn’t even have noticed the phrasing. Sorry, wouldn’t recommend.
