Zwar liegt das, was der Autor dort beschreibt, gut 120 Jahre zurück, aber manches von dem oft willkürlich Überzeichneten hat durchaus Wiedererkennungswert: Irrungen und Wirrungen einer Gletscherwanderung, exzessiv jodelnde Helvetier und verlauste Pensionsbetten werden dabei aufs Korn genommen.
Twain spart nicht an grotesken Szenen, an Münchhausenschen Bravourstücken und Eulenspiegeleien - geistreich und unterhaltend gelesen von Rufus Beck.
