Den Samstag im September, an dem das traditionelle Döblinger Hauptstraßenfest stattfindet, wird Palinski nicht so schnell vergessen. Eigentlich will er sich nur den Preis für seinen 2. Platz im Schnitzelwettbewerb einer Fast-Food-Kette abholen, an dem er aus Jux teilgenommen hat. Stattdessen wird in seiner unmittelbaren Nähe eine Frau im Rollstuhl erschossen. Der anscheinend von einem Terroristen abgegebene Schuss hat allerdings dem Stadtrat für Tourismus gegolten, der die Siegerehrung vornehmen sollte. Eine Aufgabe, zu der sich der Politiker im gerade herrschenden Wahlkampf nur zu gerne bereit erklärt hatte. Dass am selben Tag auch der linke Ringfinger des entführten Kommerzialrats Eugen Filzmayer mit einer Lösegeldforderung bei der Familie aufgetaucht ist, geht im Trubel der Ereignisse auf dem Fest fast unter...
