Publisher's Summary

A Space Wolves audio drama boxed set.

In the aftermath of the Thousand Sons' invasion of Fenris, Wolf Lord Ragnar Blackmane is thrown into danger as he hunts a dangerous beast in a quest that will decide the fate of the galaxy.

Listen to it because: Experience the latest chapter in the saga of Ragnar Blackmane in an all-action full-cast audio drama serial that pits the Young Wolf against one of the greatest – and most terrifying – warriors of the 41st Millennium.

The story: Glory returns to Fenris. Magnus the Red and his traitorous legion are defeated upon the icy cliffs of the Space Wolves’ home world, their hollow remains scattered into the darkest depths of the World Sea. Yet Ragnar Blackmane, the youngest Wolf Lord in his Chapter’s noble history, does not feel victorious. He is uneasy. Uncertain of his purpose and place in the great war for the Imperium.

Until a vision strikes him of a terrible beast, one greater than any he or his warriors have faced before. A monster that it is his destiny to confront. The young king throws himself into a quest to meet this fate, for no Space Wolf can turn from the call of his wyrd. Alongside a small band of Space Wolves, Ragnar Blackmane begins what is certain to be an odyssey for the ages, on which will hinge not only the fate of a single warrior, but of the entire galaxy.

Written by David Annandale. Performed by Tom Alexander, Charles Armstrong, Gareth Armstrong, Ian Brooker, Steve Conlin, Andrew Fettes, Jonathan Keeble, Colleen Prendergast, Jon Rand and Richard Reed.

Contents:

Part 1: 'The Call of the Wyrd'

Hail to the Young King!

A spectacular Audio Drama, in this Games Workshop has delivered! I only wish there were more. Captures the Spirit of the Young King perfectly, his impetuousness in the face of authority, his fervour in the face of battle. I really do hope that we see more of this Saga, for there is much more that need be told. However, be warned: this is not the WAAAAAAGH!!! of Ghazgkull Mag Uruk Thraka, this is The Saga of the Young King!
Absolutely loved it, and look forward to listening to it again.

So much potential ...... Bugger

The whole “book” is more of an Audio Drama. In itself this is not a bad thing. The performances of the actor/narrator (s) are very, very good.

Where it’s really let down is the lack of narrative or descriptions leaving one moment to blend into the next without adequate warning. It makes the story feel unfinished and incomplete and at times nonsensical. I found this incredibly frustrating.

Good story but distracting elements

The background sounds over played the story at times and were very distracting. Length was made longer by unneeded music - giving a fake book length. Should have had an epilogue for after the fight and were both are now so it better linked to the models.

Without question the single best audiobook I've ever listened to. Great voice acting, the sound effects are spot on, story is epic. It seriously felt like I was listening to a movie for 4 hours. Get this asap if you're a space wolf fan.

I love audio dramas. This one was Awesome!

I love audio dramas even better than standard audio books. This one was like the others. An audio show\ movie. a exciting story presented through subzero performances. And I lovedvtge irks representation and his it was carried out by the performers.

Really Games Workshop.

I will try not to spoil the story for those who haven't listened to it yet, but despite this being a truly great story they will have to work hard to appease people due to the ending of this.

For all wolf fans and orkameadies clan members this is a must listen

Only half a story

I found this to be a bit of an anticlimax. There is no resolution whatsoever. This audio drama is only really the first half of the plot for the events of the Psychic Awakening book of the same name. The voice acting is superb, as usual for a Black Library audio. The story, as far as it gets, is entertaining enough. I wish I could recommend it, but I can't.

Over engineered! Great voices and sound.

Has so much potential but is ruined by awesome sound effects blurring speech consistently, also a lack of narration and reliance on sound effects to 'describe' what's happening doesn't work and leaves you wondering what's going on. This is and audio drama not an audio book. Definitely wait for it to be cheap.
