Publisher's Summary

It’s a good thing Gabe Bristow lives and breathes the Navy SEAL credo, “the only easy day was yesterday”, because today, his life is unrecognizable. When his prestigious career comes to a crashing halt, he’s left with a bum leg and few prospects for employment that don’t include a desk.

That is, until he’s offered the chance to command a private hostage-rescue team and free a wealthy American businessman from Colombian paramilitary rebels. It seems like a good deal - until he meets his new team: a drunk Cajun linguist, a boy-genius CIA threat analyst, an FBI negotiator with mob ties, a cowboy medic, and an EOD expert as volatile as the bombs he defuses. Oh, and who could forget the sexy, frustratingly impulsive Audrey Van Amee? She’s determined to help rescue her brother - or drive Gabe crazy. Whichever comes first.

As the death toll rises, Gabe’s team of delinquents must figure out how to work together long enough to save the day. Or, at least, not get themselves killed. Because Gabe’s finally found something worth living for, and God help him if he can’t bring her brother back alive.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️❤️❤️🔥

I have just finished Tonya's #6 in this series & am waiting in anticipation of #7 being released!🙏🏻😬
These well researched action books just have gotten better & better with each instalment! I love the heroes both men & women, children plus dogs & a cat who come to life with the expert narration of Stephen Borne. Warning there are sizzling 🔥 scenes!!! But they don't take over the these sit on the edge of your seat full of action stories.
ENJOY!😃🙏🏻🧗‍♂️🏄‍♂️🏊‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️🔥

a good listen

first time listening to this author and it was better than most I've read.
there were a few eyeroll moments and I struggled to like the heroine. she didn't seem to have the strength and sass needed for an alpha ex seal. it took me about 3/4s of the way in to concede to her character. perhaps if Ms Burrows had written her with a little more grit earlier it wouldn't have taken so long to convince me.
it's an Insta love listen, and a lot of denying for the sexy steam...from the alpha...( Susan stoker style here we go again)...go figure!!
I got the idea Tonya was keeping the hero stoic hence removed from love, women, romance and all that jazz....but I felt it lacked the depth in word descrption to really convince me.
the plotline was well thought out and just when you thought it was over....I frowned because there still was 90 minutes to go...the finale catches you unawares. not only does it keep the op going, Tonya cleverly weaves the other members of the team and their back story into the mix.
the narration was well done Stephen was a first time listen for me as well and I liked his tone and inflections.
like I mentioned, a few eyeroll moments that took a star off the rating but if you don't mind Insta love, denial, odd action and thoughts in the middle of a crisis, then this is for you. it's well thought out. being over 9 hours long gives you that idea already.
looking forward to the next book....but sadly have to wait for audible.
