Publisher's Summary

Written with her trademark deadpan humour, Urzila's memoir is full of great stories about both the big things in life and the little things.

Urzila's accidental beginning in stand-up has led to an incredibly successful career in comedy, with regular gigs on television as well as sell-out shows in comedy festivals across New Zealand and Australia.

But life hasn't always been a bundle of laughs. Urzila talks candidly about her childhood with a great family, apart from her abusive dad, and about growing up in South Africa. She shares crazy but true tales about her OE, her move to New Zealand, coming out, getting married and having children, and her life in comedy.

This is a great listen from one of our most loved and most popular comedians.

Love Urzila

I loved Urzila's story. It's inspiring on so many levels--from learning about life in South Africa to starting a new life in NZ, the way she got into stand up, finding love and starting a family--and laugh out loud funny, which is just what I needed. Chapter 21. Oh my God 😂😂😂 I also cried in parts. It's a wonderful listen. You have to listen 🙌 thank you for sharing your story 🙏

Bloody Good :)

Always like Ursula after watching 'Have you been paying attention'. Now after listening to her book I can't wait to see her live or make eye contact with her at the Adelaide fringe 😀. Engaging and funny, I was sad when I realised it was the end - could listen to her way more!

What a woman!

Urzila is sassy and funny AF and her memoir is both along with heartbreaking, loving and real. I have loved Urzila since the first time I saw her on HYBPA many years ago. So it was a no brainer for me to purchase both the audio and hard copy of her book. I have always described Urzila to friends as the South African comedian living in NZ that works in Oz.
