fun
As with all of Dahl's books, these stories are great.
Well read, and great to hear Dahl himself!
However, we were disappointed that the stories were condensed... they are not nearly as good as 'the read thing'

I Wish He'd Recorded More.
I love being able to listen to the words being read by the person who wrote them and knew how they were meant to be said- I know there are celebrity readings of Roald Dahl's books and I'll definitely get "The Twits" read by Richard Ayoade as soon as I get a new bunch of credits.
I only wish I could listen to him read more of his stories, I love it so much that I'll definitely listen to it again and again- it calms me down and lets me escape to the childhood stories which kept me busy and gave my mind somewhere else to be during any situation where I had access to a book.
I'll be looking into finding if there are any other recordings of readings done by Roald Dahl, this one is definitely a very special Audible purchase that I would encourage any fan of fiction or classics to try.

Great books but only one file?
Any additional comments?
So there's only one file/chapter. This means I'm having to guess when one story ends and another starts. Surely that's a massive failing here....

not as described - spoilt by poor description
What disappointed you about Roald Dahl Reads Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Four More Stories?
Despite the description claiming the books to be unabridged, they're seriously cropped. Almost all the magic has been pulled away from the stories, there's no detail or whimsy left.
What did you like best about this story?
They reminded me that real books still have a valid place in society.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Dahl read with enthusiasm, but it was hard to differentiate between reading narrative and character voices at times.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The closest to a redeeming feature is that there were four books for the price of one. But that meant that they're only a quarter as good as a single book.
Any additional comments?
I'm going to return this book and get (what I hope really is) the unabridged single edition of Charlie and the chocolate factory.
I suppose smaller children - with limited attention spans or don't know the stories - will enjoy them, but my kids who are big Chocolate factory fans, were sorely disappointed.
