Too basic and simplistic for me
It might be okay as a very first appetizer, but if you have a need to dig in in any depth at all, you will want to look further, fast. It does give a feel for some major areas and topics.

An ok book
As someone that manages hedging and risk management teams myself, this is certainly a book that I would recommend to practitioners. Finally, it is clear that the author and the people he thanked in the acknowledgments spent quite a bit of time proofreading the final guidance. The writing is clear, well-articulated, and thoughtful.

had a lot of information
A brief history of the Basel regulation is given and how important volatility is for the risk management. The different forms of value at risk is introduced and how it is used in the different risk measurement. It is the main book on the theme and I think the practical action will take place in the application of the theory. No mater how long it is relevant. You can read it with the basic skills in maths and no long mathematical treatise are used. It is easy to understand.

The book certainly gives a greater appreciation of what financial analysts are considering when they look at a company's balance sheet.
