Publisher's Summary

The demons have the upper hand in their fight against the humans on Palatovia. Lord Emalf, the demon lord, has destroyed the city of Centuria, leaving no survivors save Nydraia, a leader of the nes kaliba, a water people. Through his dark arts, Emalf now commands all of the demons and other vulgar beasts such as giant worms and flying spiders. Although he is physically imprisoned, Emalf can still manifest his form across worlds and dimensions. So many are lost or missing: Gathar's magically-inclined son, Ptolemy, age 10, has just suffered a crash-landing because the demon ship he was on was attacked by a blue dragon; Megan, his sister, has been transported to another world through a purple vortex, and no one has seen their king, King Katimi, since he fled the city soon after the demons attacked.

Emalf has also cast spells on several humans turning them into demons to include Ptolemy and King Katimi. Ptolemy is now back in his human form and is in possession of the magical Book of Stars and dagger - Emalf is also on a quest to find these same artifacts that would ultimately bring him enough power to take over and destroy Palatovia. Not knowing Ptolemy possesses these two items, Emalf also seeks the crystal. At this point of the story General Gathar does not know how important it is to his world's survival for the crystal not to fall into Lord Emalf's hands.
