Fantastic book.

Gained great insight. Exercises were helpful. Especially liked the chapter about the undertow because everyone fails at one point in their way to change. It's how you recover that makes all the difference. Highly recommended.

Life-changing

This book has opened my eyes and forced me to repeatedly re-evaluate my basic assumptions about how my personality developed. I have listened repeatedly to the first four chapters, and each time I am rewarded with a new insight. Powerful and sometimes painful... But always helpful in the end.

Very detailed but useful information

Very detailed but useful information . I purchased a hard copy of the book. There are enough detailed items, that I want to go back over them.

Excellent, excellent, excellent self-help book!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who suffers from any addiction, codependency and any other self-defeating practices. I found this book to be so incredibly informative and helpful that I am going to listen to it again and again.

I had no technical problems with this audiobook at all. It was well worth the money! 5 stars across the board!

I Probably Need to Listen to it Again

You can definitely get some insight on how to overcome undesirable habits - I think it would work well to use a journal with this if you are serious about making changes. This book is for anyone who has a desire to improve themselves or gain insight into what motivates others.

Very Educational and helpful

This book is so easy to understand. It actually helped me realize the real reason I was making dumb decisions. Excited to start applying some of the exercises to my life. I wasn't even listening for myself, but I have a couple of revelations that were impactful in the moment! Strongly suggest everyone reads this book... We all have bad habits.

Relevant and Informative

This book brought to light truths about how all is not hopeless. Adult brains can continue to evolve and grow. Personal growth is not just for the young, and if we fall off of our routines, all is not lost. Progress made still remains; just waiting for us to get back on the right path! Very motivating and inspiring!

Towards a users' manual for your brain

Lots of good information on how the brain functions, the role of diet, etc. This book is more than merely a how to book on creating new and good habits. The author explains neural functions and interactions that generate, process, and expedite thoughts.

This should be taught in school.

If only this was mandatory to read, learn and apply. The world would be a much better place I am sure. Awareness is key.

I Probably Need to Listen to it Again

Some good ideas but I need to hear them more than once before I manage to apply them. I listened to this while I was getting dressed for work so my mind wasn't completely on it. The reader was adequate but has what I think of as an announcer's voice - completely without distinguishing characteristics. For this type of book, I prefer to hear the writer read it but that's just me.

Written for me

This book spoke to me. The self-hate quiz and other exercises taught me a lot about myself and I have already started trying to be more mindful and to wear my raincoat and let the stress roll right off of me :) Feeling hopeful. This book is a game changer for me. For once I feel in control & optimistic about a better future.

At first, I felt like this book only offered the explanation for my bad habits but, after listening to the audiobook multiple times, it gave me insight into what I need to do the change. One of the best books I've read. Everyone should have an opportunity to read and learn from it!
