Publisher's Summary

What will happen to the Bennet females now that Mr. Bennet has died? With Mr. Tristan Collins on his way from America to claim his property, Mrs. Bennet hatches her plan. The new heir to Longbourn simply must marry one of her daughters. Nothing else will do. Will it be Mary or Kitty singled out for this dubious honor? When the gentleman in question turns out to be quite a catch after all, the contest between the sisters is on. Which one will be the next mistress of Longbourn? Or will a dark horse step in to muddy the picture? Darcy, Elizabeth, and the rest of the Pride and Prejudice cast are back as the socially awkward Mary emerges from the shadows to take center stage in Shannon Winslow's long-awaited sequel to her best-selling novel, The Darcys of Pemberley.

Many Austen fans have a soft spot in their hearts for Mary and wonder if she might have the hidden makings of a heroine. Now, in Return to Longbourn, we learn what really makes her tick. Is she destined to be a governess forever, or will she overcome the misfortune of being 'plain' to find love and her own happy ending?

Unexpectedly delightful

Shannon Winslow has the unique ability of managing to capture Austen’s style of writing. Therefore transporting you directly into the world of our favourite characters and while I always thought Mary had more to her than the dull and plain character portrayed on the screen, this book is just a delightful surprise! I just had to keep listening…

Great variation

Wasn't sure I'd like this because I'm more obsessed with Darcy & Elizabeth but it was excellent. Mary's story was a great addition and I even started walking more so I could listen to it.....throughly enjoyable.

A true tribute to Jane Austen

Loved the storyline and the twist in the story which I did not expect. It was absolutely heart wrenching to think that poor Mary Bennett would never find true love as her elder sisters Jane and Elizabeth had.
Well done Shannon Winslow on yet another excellent tale

Another praise for an excellent read.

Love these books, they should make a movie or short series to do them al justice! Anyhow a must follow up read from the Jane Austin ‘Pride & Prejudice’

could have been standalone

The story is good, but predictable. it didn't need to be a follow on from P&P, it should have been a standalone with new names. The narration is ok, but a bit one-dimensional.

Bored & confused....twice

I started this book with some relative hesitance because I didn't enjoy all of the authors previous book, The Darcy's of Pemberley. But thought I might try another of her books, because you know, it might be me, that has the issue.

I listened to about an hour, and got lost. I don't understand what is going on. "Maybe I'm distracted?" I thought, so I rewound and started again, and I got lost again. I found my mind wondering off, thinking about mundane things. The writing could not keep my interest the way my phone bill or newspaper can I guess lol. Too many long flowery descriptions of inanimate things and I lost what I was originally reading about. The story is really taking a silly turn. Mr Collins arrives to take over Longbourn (the only thing slightly normal). Mary is a governess at Netherfield and is made to attend the ball and is forced to wear a dress belonging to the sister of the Master of the house. Kitty just visits everybody. The book has an amazing title, the content is not so amazing. I couldn't go on. I dare say, I don't recommend this book at all.
