Story
Following the incredible events of Solitude, Vaughn had visions of plying the seven seas with Angela at his side. Then she and fate crapped all over his plans. Bent on discovering the truth about what happened to humanity and the rest of the world's life, Angela drags a less-than-willing Vaughn across the Mediterranean and into central Europe. However, even the overhead presence of a line of levitating steel structures and ships couldn't prepare them for what lied ahead. The size and scale of what they find in Geneva rocks them to their cores.

Story
Two hundred years ago, aliens invaded Earth. A violent war followed. The enemy won. Some of us escaped, most of us didn’t. On Proxima they flourished - the invasion forgotten. On Earth we floundered - the horror began. Their world is advanced, peaceful, and secure. Our world is broken, savage, and overrun. A new invasion is coming. A hunger that has swallowed half the universe. They don’t care which planet we live on. They want to end us all. But where there is life, there is hope. And where there is hope, there are heroes. This time, vengeance will be ours.

The enemy is coming. The enemy is already here. For years they’ve prepared, plotted, and planned. For years they’ve waited to strike from above and below. Earth is under siege. The enemy covers the landscape. Proxima is unharmed. But that’s about to change. No armies can stop this menace, and no defenses can slow the advance. We are scattered and isolated. We are ignorant and weak. No help is coming. No help remains...or does it? Old heroes will sacrifice everything. New heroes will rise.

Publisher's Summary
Sequel to Ambush - award-winning apocalyptic thriller
Can today's militaries board and control the emptied alien armada that hangs over our heads?
After the massive battle to save today's Earth went horribly wrong, leaving a huge fleet of ghost ships hanging over the planet, humanity is left to fight for itself. Can we use our genetic link to the fleet's fallen commanders to rein in the ships before they start crashing down onto an already battered world? And when dark galactic forces once again amass in our skies, can humanity make a stand?
It’s 2019. Jake and Sandy saved the world...twice!
But that was yesterday.
Independence Day meets The X-Files when Air Force fighter pilots Jake Giard and Sandra Fitzpatrick join a decades-old secret project to integrate today's Earth into a galactic government. But when a galactic civil war spills onto our shores, plunging the planet into an otherworldly post-apocalyptic hell, can Jake and Sandy save humanity from extinction?
Following the apocalyptic events of Ambush, Jake must board and somehow control the advanced alien fleet of huge ships before they start falling into the Atlantic.
Yesterday, Captain Sandra Fitzpatrick learned she’s pregnant. Then, she helped save the world. Now, she must keep her condition a secret (even from Jake, the father to be). The remnants of humanity need Sandy and her cobbled together band of warriors to somehow master the alien technology.
If Jake and Sandy prevail, and if Earth’s ravaged militaries can unite, can they adapt now outdated tactics to the limitless battlefield of space?
"Cole tackles the first-contact scenario with bombastic flair. [He] delivers the high-resolution imagery of a Hollywood blockbuster.... A technologically riveting dream for sci-fi action fans." (Kirkus Reviews)

disappointing
I was excited after and interesting concept in book one but I was worried a about all the jumping around of points of view and that has continued here to the point where it seems to be solely to pad each story enough for multiple books to be sold on an otherwise event dry story. It had so much potential but I am half way through this book we are about 1-2 hours into the time line and untold points of view explored and it's just too boring to finish, sorry I won't be buying further into this series which should have been a single book

Just finished today after someone from R.C. Bray group recommended this series and I was absolutely and throughly enjoyed every second of this small series. Character development was great and with Bob reading this story you can’t lose. Hopefully in the future Dean will write more books to add to this series because the ending is great but sets it up for way more. Cheers for a fantastic book Dean.

Too much repeat
I enjoyed the first book in the series enough to finish it. It was a fresh story without too much cliche happenings. But the second book, is a different story. I am over two hours into the book and it is all repeat from the first book. Just filler. I read the first book move on.

Loved the story
Dean M. Cole has written a good series. Should he continue with the series, I can assure him that he has a loyal follower in me. RC Bray, of course, does his usual and expected good job as narrator. If I had a small complaint, it would be that it needs a little bit more "in their head " conversation so the reader can get a little better feel for the characters in the book and how they are dealing with the situations they are in. Again, a very minor complaint. Thank you Sir for a good story. Please keep up the good work.!

felt like a replay of the first book in the series
One nearly un-killable lizard left on a beat up ship, sounds a lot like the final battle of the last book. This series had so many great possibilities but the author took it nowhere. The narration was fantastic of course, r c bray was great as usual. But even that could not save the book, it felt like a chore to finish listening to it.

Listened back to back with Book I, Ambush
Like I said in my previous review of Ambush (Book 1), it's narrated by R.C. Bray, so there is already reason to listen to it. Continues the story line to a reasonably satisfying (if not predictable, tho no spoilers as it depends on your perspective of what is predictable ) ending.
