Ross Edgley famously ran a marathon pulling a 1.4-tonne car and climbed a rope the height of Everest (8,848 m), after living with Yamabushi warrior monks in Japan and partaking in Shamanic pain rituals with fire ants in the Amazon jungle. On his epic 1,780-mile journey around Great Britain, which lasted 157 days, Ross swam through giant jellyfish, arctic storms, ‘haunted’ whirlpools and polluted shipping lanes, going so hard, and so fast, his tongue fell apart.

Publisher's Summary
You cannot bounce back from hardship. You can only move through it. There is a path through pain to wisdom, through suffering to strength, and through fear to courage if we have the virtue of resilience.
In 2012, Eric Greitens unexpectedly heard from a former SEAL comrade, a brother-in-arms he hadn’t seen in a decade. Zach Walker had been one of the toughest of the tough. But ever since he returned home from war to his young family in a small logging town, he’d been struggling. Without a sense of purpose, plagued by PTSD, and masking his pain with heavy drinking, he needed help. Zach and Eric started writing and talking nearly every day, as Eric set down his thoughts on what it takes to build resilience in our lives.
Eric s letters drawing on both his own experience and wisdom from ancient and modern thinkers are now gathered and edited into this timeless guidebook. Resilience explains how we can build purpose, confront pain, practice compassion, develop a vocation, find a mentor, create happiness, and much more. Eric s lessons are deep yet practical, and his advice leads to clear solutions.
We all face pain, difficulty, and doubt. But we also have the tools to take control of our lives. Resilience is an inspiring meditation for the warrior in each of us.

This guy is the Real Deal!
Really interesting way to write a book. With what and who he writes about, you know that Eric is a real pupil of his art.
For those who aren't military minded, don't worry as it isn't all macho and hero stuff, it's actually really beautiful.
Well read, really easy to listen too with lots of great actionable stuff. So much so that I listened to it twice straight out and will listen to annually now if not more.
Thanks G!

Outstanding real life guide
If you could sum up Resilience in three words, what would they be?
thoughtful, challenging, inspiring
Any additional comments?
This is a fantastic book that takes a level of commitment. It doesn't have any snappy by lines (think "just do it") but it does make you reflect on your who you are and how you've conduct yourself. It isn't preachy but does shoot straight. I liked it so much I bought the hard copy so I can go back and make notes. The best 'self help' book I've ever come across.

Inspiring
I found myself completely absorbed in the letters from Eric to his old SEAL buddy.
The use of analogy works very well as they are drawn from ancient through to modern day heroes.
Anyone who feels lost in the world and has become tired of the challenges in everyday difficulties of life should list to this audible book.
Thanks Eric for sharing your letters in this fantastic audio book.
