About this listen

Throughout his research into memory theory, Nelson Dellis found existing memory improvement guides to be wanting - overcomplicated, dry, and stodgy. So he decided to create a book that is approachable and fun, centered on what people actually need to remember. In Remember It!, Dellis teaches us how to make the most of our memory, using his competition-winning techniques.

Presenting the information in a user-friendly way, Dellis offers bite-size chapters, addressing things we wish we could remember but often forget: names, grocery lists, phone numbers, where you left your keys - you name it! This fast-paced, highly illustrated tour of the inner workings of the brain makes improving your memory simple and fun.

So often self help books are boring and drawn out. I thought every chapter would be useful to someone. For example there was one more geared to students, there was a section on memorising numbers (long sequences), remembering your parking spot ect.

The techniques were new to me and started a lot of discussions with my kids too to try out and have some fun with. I have listened to a couple of memory books but this WAS different. I haven't tested the suggestions out yet but I suspect if you practice them they will work.

My only issue was the author would often spit out random stuff in a long string of sentences before it could make sense and then be like "don't worry, I'm going to show you how to blah blah". It was more frustrating because it felt like i had missed something and didn't benefit me as a listener at all whereas he could have just started with the explanation. I get that he may have done it to grab our attention but it was jarring.

Anyway I recommend it if you're willing to be imaginative and try something different.

Really interesting!
