Publisher's Summary

Machen's classic defense of orthodox Christianity established the importance of scriptural doctrine and contrasts the teachings of liberalism and orthodoxy on God and man, the Bible, Christ, salvation, and the church. Though originally published nearly seventy years ago, the book maintains its relevance today. It was named one of the top 100 books of the millennium by World magazine and one of the top 100 books of the century by Christianity Today.

Broken Hearted for a Broken Church

We have learned nothing in the last 100 years. The problem of progressive liberal Christianity plagued out churches in 1920s and they are still plaguing us today.

We must must confess to the biblical Christ as the foundation of our church and we must divorce humanism.

We must repent and believe.

This book clearly articulates the things that break my heart about the modern church and it sobers and grounds me in the reality of what Christ did for me on the cross.

Your life must be a holy sacrifice to the lord in response to salvation.

What Jesus did is true. All else is false.

Abandon the desires of your heart and seek the Lord.

Quell your pride. Preach the truth. Thank God every day for all he has done.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
