Der Autor:
Charles Darwin (1809-1882) war ein britischer Naturwissenschaftler. Seine Beobachtungen auf den Galapagos-Inseln veranlaßten ihn, ein Buch zur Evolutionstheorie mit dem Titel "Die Entstehung der Arten" zu verfassen. Durch die Veröffentlichung des Buches im Jahre 1859 verhalf er der Theorie zum Durchbruch. Er selbst gelangte dadurch zu Weltruhm.
