Engaging story telling. Wonderful insights for personal growth. Narration rather dramatic and sometimes a bit downtrodden.

Engaging, but rather dramatic

Loved the way he told people’s stories. His strong was very poetic but went a little long in parts and lost me a few times. Reads like a novel and his voice is great for narration.

Poetic

Recommended to me as a business book. Was so much more and I'm now looking forward to the practicalities of answering these questions. Further, immersing them into my own coaching world.

A journey of self excavation

Firstly, this listen was tolerable as I quite enjoyed Jerry Colona’s podcast with Tim Ferris. That being said, this Audible version of this is very melodramatic, Jerry is a very emotional man, and this has probably allowed him to reach the success he has achieved. However, this doesn’t translate to a completely enjoyable listen.
There is also a bit of culture clashes occurring, this is not saying the culture I have grown up in and reside in could not be better off with some of the productive aspects and methods promoted in this book. However, this open armed, embracing, emotional vulnerability, which was encouraged would just not occur or be receptive in the country and working environments I have been a part of.
I also found the excessive detail of items or attention to sounds, to not really equate to a great listen.
These cons somewhat interrupted my listen of this book, although, there were still some decent takeaways and I particularly enjoyed the importance and focus the author places on journaling methods .
The attention the author applies to the incessant busyness we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by was great, and the more attention this receives the better. Highlighted by, ‘don’t mistake motion for meaning.’ There were also quality sections about matching the inner self with the outer self.
While there were some points which made me pause and reflect on how I could incorporate these into my work life, but these moments were fleeting.

Too much melodrama sours the good intentions
