About this listen

If you’re unsatisfied with how your life turned out, you’re not alone—and it’s not too late to create the life you want and deserve. All you have to do is be a rebel.

Most of us are living a life crafted by other people: family, social media, societal expectations, etc. We’ve conformed to the patterns of everyone around us without even meaning to. Being a rebel doesn’t just mean going against the norm—it’s about giving the world your truest self. Author and podcast host Graham Cochrane shows you how to truly create your life of freedom, joy, and meaning—on your terms, not someone else’s.

In Rebel, he’ll show you exactly how to make this shift via the simple five-part REBEL framework that will show you how to create the life you’ve always wanted. Readers will learn how to:

  • Wake up from the world’s sleepy autopilot way of living
  • Figure out what your dreams really are (or perhaps dream for the first time)
  • Dismantle harmful mental scripts and limiting beliefs that have kept you stuck (potentially for years)
  • Determine what your ideal life looks like (in your work, business, relationships, finances, health)—and chart a path to get there
  • Stick to a set of values as you navigate the big decisions in life
  • Leave behind a legacy that others will want to emulate

It takes courage to create the life, the business, the family that you want, but the rewards of being a Rebel are worth it.

Critic Reviews

“Podcast host Graham Cochrane narrates his guidebook on how to pursue personal dreams and goals. In particular, he gives listeners advice on how to stay true to their desires and not conform to what is expected of them. Cochrane has an effective congenial tone as he asks listeners what is preventing them from pursuing their true life's purpose and shares his own experiences on how he was able to find his own path to joy. He is simple yet thought-provoking in his delivery and offers the enthusiastic support needed to ponder his questions and follow his framework.”AudioFile Magazine

“If you’ve ever felt stuck, frustrated, or disappointed by how life has turned out so far, this book will give you the clarity, confidence, and inspiration to live your one precious life authentically and uniquely to the fullest.”—Jon Gordon, Fifteen-time Bestselling Author, The Energy Bus and The One Truth

"My favorite thing about Graham is that he lives what he teaches! There's no fluff; just real insight for real people. Inside this book, you'll find advice that is encouraging, approachable, and inspiring."—Jon Acuff, New York Times Bestselling Author, Do Over and All It Takes Is a Goal

Graham is a fantastic podcast host, but unfortunately, this audiobook is a major disappointment. His podcast is full of sharp insights and a refreshing, authentic voice. Here, though, he inexplicably switches to a forced 1980s-style self-help delivery vibe. It’s baffling why he wouldn’t just stick to his natural voice, which works so well.

The content suffers the same problem as the performance. Instead of originality, it leans heavily into clichéd, outdated self-help tropes. What makes this even more frustrating is knowing how thoughtful and engaging his podcast usually is.

On top of that, the Christian references are not just frequent, but nonstop - even more than in his last book. They’re presented less as personal beliefs (which I could respect) and instead as absolute truths. For listeners of other faiths, atheists and agnostics it comes across convert recruitment which is both alienating and insulting.

If the book is meant primarily for a Christian audience, that should be made clear upfront. As it stands, this audiobook falls well short of the quality and inclusivity of Graham’s other work.

Great podcast, terrible book.
