Publisher's Summary

Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor and his retinue are believed dead, and with shadowy forces moving against them, they'd like to keep it that way. Returning to the planet Eustis Majoris, they go undercover, investigating a brutal ring of smugglers moving stolen arcane technology within the Imperium.

As they descend deeper into the organisation, it becomes clear that a terrible plot is unravelling. The ancient machines contain the unthinkable, and Ravenor must summon all of his wits to thwart the conspirators before the ultimate secrets of Chaos itself are laid bare!

Dan and Toby are a knockout team

Dan Abnett is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors, and with that, Toby Longworth is a perfect fit for everything he writes. Can't recommend these books enough.

Outstanding!

What is there to say? Abnett towers over the Black Library like a Colossus. Everything about this series, much like his Eisenhorn trilogy, is top notch. If you are a 40k fan, I dont know that it gets better.

Better than the Eisanhorn horn books?

So amazing. The characters the story and the rough around the edges attitude. Really enjoyable series.

How it's written

Really enjoy the world and the content but I find that they jump around without warning from side story to side story. Still enjoyable though but you have to be on top of listening.

Solid as solid comes.

Dan Abnett has really captured the essence of 40k. Brutal, vast, advanced, primitive. I loved the Eisenhorn series. Love this even more.

Ravenor

Another great title in the Inquisition lore. Toby Longworth sets the narrative tone flawlessly throughout the novel.

Vast improvement

If you are like me, then you might have been put off by the first ravenor book. especially if you came from the Eisenhorn series. I originally didnt like the way it was presented, with the titular character getting sidelined so much, but the characters grew on me and the second book has what I think to be a somewhat better plot, although this may be my prejudice on the first book talking. The one thing that still irks me with the narrator (who is godly) is his portrayal of the women in the books he narrates. Honestly he makes them sound like old ladies, though without using a second narrator like in the Caiaphas Cain books I doubt it's possible. It's hard for me to imagine Kiss being all sexy and lithe as described in the book when she sounds like Helbrecht.

Best Inquisition Book Yet

For me this is the best of all the inquisition books so far including the Eisenhorn series. I like the way it’s a slow burn over all the books with Ravenor. Felt the team really gelled in this one.

Sublime

When I started Ravenor, I had a hard time liking and finding characters interesting, a bit like with Eisenhorn. But now, after having finished book 2 of the series, I love everything about it. Abnett is an amazing author.

Great Sequel!

Already onto the third part...this book ups the ante in terms of action and pace and, as ever, Toby's narration and character voices are spot on!
