Sammun Lightheart is a dwarf who dreams of exciting adventures that will take him far from the drudgery of his daily chores and the small village where he lives. His discovery of an ancient wizard’s staff, long buried in the soil, changes his life in a moment and sends him on a perilous quest to return it to Aldoron, the near-mythical wizard who once owned it.
But others are also aware of the reappearance of the staff, and soon, Hesperia, an enchantress who wants to create a world in her own image, sends her minions to retrieve it before Sam can return it to its rightful owner.
Together with his new friends, Bryla the Fire Sprite and Alosryn the Elf, Sam must reach the Forest of Dreams before the forces under Hesperia’s control can wrest the staff from him and usher in an era of chaos. The way is paved with danger, and there is no certainty that any of them will return to their homes despite their bravery. But what will they find in the Forest of Dreams if they reach it? Does Aldoron still live? And even if he does, would he be willing to help them?
