Publisher's Summary

Five jobs. Five chances for redemption.

There's nothing like being blackmailed by a dead man to really bring a group of cons together. And what a group we are: a hacker, a thief, a con artist, a thug, and a Federal agent with an ax to grind.

The deal is simple: We do the jobs, and Charlie's lawyer wipes the slate clean for each of us, one at a time. Since job number one calls for some muscle, it looks like I'm up first. I'm Steele Alvarez, ex-Special Forces close protection specialist (aka, a bodyguard for some not-so-nice guys).

After learning what the job is - taking down a seemingly untouchable senator with a penchant for beating up young male prostitutes - I'm in. No questions. A bullet ought to do the trick. Then I met Senator Harlan's latest victim: Breck Pfeiffer, the gorgeous hooker with a heart of gold and the soul of a fighter. One look at him, and I'm gone. That kid laid me out harder than any punch ever did.

I'll do anything to protect Breck, even kill for him. But Breck doesn't want the senator dead, he wants vengeance. If we're going to find a way bring down the slimebag and get the blackest mark on my record erased, I'm going to need all the help I can get.

Great fun with con-men

Riffing off Charlie's Angels (even with a Bosley character), this story rollocks along with very satisfying set pieces and a worthy conclusion. The narration is strong, but not great. The difference between the two narrators is really vast and I would have preferred only one narrator. That said, the story was strong and the characters loveable. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

An awesome collection of ragtag, unique and colorful characters!

Such great humor and wit, make up this unusual read. Not what I expected but was still so good. I loved these characters, their unique stories, and connections. A very one of a kind creation!

I loved Steele and Breck. Their connection was hot from the start and there back and forth was hilarious. I felt they worked so well together and I loved the instant connection and Steele's need to drive Breck's twin brother crazy. It makes for great reading! I also loved Danny. He's just so sweet, cute and funny and I know there is more to his story.

I felt each character had something interesting to add to this collection of "criminals, but not really" and this was a great read setting up the characters and the way they are being "forced" together by their deceased friend/enemy/arch-nemesis. Each character is unique and holds an air of mystery. This story follows Breck & Steele but I'm looking forward to unfolding all the others. Danny's up next!

My only comment on the narration was that I don't know who's who and while each narrator added different tones and dialects for each character they didn't match with each other narration. So by one narrator, narrated Breck with a softer spoken and little bit sweeter voice and then the other narrator spoke Breck with a gruff raspy voice, so it took a bit to get the story straight and remember who was who, especially with so many different characters.

Thanks for reading!
