Der Roman Professor Unrat oder das Ende eines Tyrannen handelt von dem 57jährigen Professor Raat, der verwitwet ist und alleine lebt. Er unterrichtet am Gymnasium und sieht seine Schüler als Feinde. Deshalb wird er im ganzen Ort „Professor Unrat“ genannt. Das gefällt ihm nicht und er bestraft seine Schüler. Eines Tages erfährt er, dass seine Schüler die Barfußtänzerin Rosa Fröhlich verehren. Um sie zu „erleben“ geht es in das Vergnügungslokal „Der blaue Engel“. Auch Raat kann sich ihrem Bann nicht entziehen. Schließlich heiratet er sie. Das ist jedoch sein finanzieller Ruin. Lutz Heinrich Mann war ein deutscher Schriftsteller und der ältere Bruder von Thomas Mann. Ein weiterer bekannter Roman ist Der Untertan.
