About this listen

Luke Garrison is a hometown hero, a member of the National Guard ready to deploy again. Strong, sweet, and sexy, he doesn't have a girlfriend and doesn't want one. When the wildly beautiful Harper stumbles into his life, though, he realizes that she's the perfect decoy. A fake girlfriend to keep his family off his back until he's out on another mission.

So what if a single bite of her lip sends his mind to wicked places? He can control himself. Can't he?

Harper was on her way to starting a new life...again. But something about Luke makes her want to settle down in this small town and make Luke's house a home. When his arms wrap around her like steel, she finally knows what it's like to feel safe. Protected.

One night of sleeping in the same bed turns into something much, much more, and soon Luke can't keep his mind off Harper's wide gray eyes, or his hands off of her luscious curves. He never thought he'd feel this way about a woman again. But he knows that he can't tell her the truth about his dark past, and she can't reveal to him what she's running from.

Anyway, this isn't a real relationship. It's only for a month. Only pretend. Until it isn't....

Don’t like that it’s been told from a third person perspective. I feel like it would make more sense if each chapter from the character point of view themselves.

Pretend You're Mine is an ebook I've previously read and really liked the storyline. The Audible version which I've just finished listening to is really good as well - the female narrator does a great job of both Harper and Luke.

Harper, I just loved her, she was my fav character - she is strong minded, resilient, picks herself up and moves on every time her life doesn't go as planned. Luke - he has many moments where he is a complete douche and doesn't deserve Harper at all. Yes, he may have reasons for being so close minded and with holding himself and his feelings from Harper, but I felt so sad for her at times. There is a small element of danger/suspense that runs through the storyline as well, makes it that little bit more interesting.

great ending to the story

I just finished reading this book on my kindle and decided I really wanted it read to me. In my opinion, in this situation, reading the book was better than hearing it. I think I just felt more invested, when reading it, I really felt the emotion in the story and the longing between both characters.
I think it might have been better if there was a male and female narrating the book…however it may not have flowed very well. Still, a great story either way. I would highly recommend the knockemout series also by Lucy score!

An emotional love story that pulls at the heart strings

Lucy has written a beautiful story about second love and small town shenanigans. It was such a heartfelt read. I laughed, cried and swooned. I loved the performances, each character had their own unique voice. Such a great repertoire!

Beautiful heartfelt story

Why do the women have to be so vanilla with no grit? The author tried, but fell short of building a character with flaws and more humanness.
I lost interest when Luke became possessive and jealous which was exasperated by poor narration. I listened for an easy read, but was turned off once he became possessive. Maybe it improved, but I didn’t stick around to hear it out. It’s time to stop normalising red flag behaviour in men.

Disappointed

I think I may have enjoyed this more - to the point it was okay, if there had been a better narrator. I found her to get more painful as story moved on and when she got to the love scene, bleh.

couldn't finish - narrator not good

So disappointed! I love Lucy but I only managed to listen to 2 chapters. Don't bother!

Terrible!

It’s a good story, but I will have to get the paperback. The reader sounds like a robot and completely ruins the story, there’s no flow or appropriate breaks in sentences, does not portray any of the angst or chemistry between the characters.

Voice reading completely ruins it!
