Publisher's Summary

A man is only as good as his word....

Celestine is a vast world, filled with mysteries and peopled by creatures most men consider nothing but flights of fancy.

Terrence Mack knows better.

Free of Florence at last, he wants nothing more than to make good on a promise. Yuri Kolenko journeyed across the world on a quest to be made chieftain and end the abuses of an evil shaman. Terry has sworn to see it done.

Yet pursued by furies, a dragon, even the Dust Lord himself, the template and his companions are compelled to challenge the Sphinx and enter the Labyrinth. There they must make their way to the center, challenge an ancient, fallen hero, and bargain with a woman twice-scorned, called with good reason the Power of the Lost....

Holy crap this series gets better and better!

Braving the wilds, defeating ancient heroes in labyrinths and avoiding the machinations of the powers T-Mack proves his resolve is that of a true hero and defender of that which he holds dearest in his heart. A great performance from Tess Irondale as always.

cebelius definitely scored another home run

no part of this book was ever boring. The characters are ALL dynamic, rather than only the main character (which is what gives u EXCEPTIONAL writing rather than merely good writing). There is definitely healthy amounts of adult situations, but it never feels forced. I hope this author continues his now well established pattern of quality storytelling for many years to come. I will certainly continue buying his work so long as this is the sort of quality I can expect.

Amazed beyond all words

If you have never listened to a harem fantasy novel I would suggest giving this series a try. Its beyond amazing, not to mention the world building that is taking place be beyond breath taking. I just can't wait to see where the next book goes. I will be a fan for life, anything Cebelius writes is a nice breath of fresh air in the monster world community.

still like the books. hate the main character.

The main character hates the dragon woman and I cant see why. it is an unreasonable hatred that makes me cringe every time they interact. He also super dislikes chubby women and that left a bad taste in my mouth. not that he wasn't attracted to her but that he judged her harshly for it. she was even the butt of a joke..

I still enjoy the book for the most part. though the harem is getting big and the power scaling is getting out of control.

Great consistent story

This series is one of the most consistent ones I've read in a while.

The characters are interesting, start to finish, while growing and changing in slow, realistic ways. Every character manages to get some time in the spotlight despite the fact that new characters are added with each book. I personally look forward to the growth of our resident angry female character which I'm happy to see, didn't magically change for plot reasons (though the comparison to Vegeta did make me laugh).

The conflict, which was revealed quite early on in the series, doesn't grow and get out of control like in other similar stories, but instead becomes further defined with each new instalment. We know that our main character is supposedly in over his head, despite triumphing over everything he encounters, but with this novel especially, he is shown what he truly has to face. The trouble is explained without growing to a scale that wouldn't fit in your average book and I must really commend the author for this.

I quite enjoyed how this book focused on the exchange that the main characters bonds give each person. We're always focusing on what they get from him by giving vague details in most cases, while this book defines things a bit more clearly. I also enjoyed how the author has begun to slow down the building of new relationships with the main character by having them fight against it, or work towards a bond. This will no doubt make the eventual bonds in future books feel more worth the effort and will also prevent the addition of a new girl every chapter, which similar books tend to fall into..

If I had to name something to complain about then I did have two minor gripes about this novel. The first being that most of the novel took place in a single setting which I wasn't that much of a fan of. The lore was interesting, though the reasoning for it felt weak, but I would have much preferred this section to be a bit shorter allowing the cast to explore just one more area either before or after it. The second complaint would be that the model on the cover, while interesting, was such a minor character that I would have preferred it be of one of the other main characters. This could be a conscious choice to allow us to keep imagining characters as we would, but with most already being shown on previous covers, I think that might be a bit of a reach.

In the end, this book was a fun romp which still hasn't managed to collapse under the weight of it's growing plot. I would recommend it to any fans of adult fantasy literature.

The hero wears Prada!

I have been enjoying this series by a surprising amount. The characters, especially Terry, continue to grow in strength and commitment to each other. Prada and Astral are the surprise characters of this volume as they excelled in personality and dedication to the group. The author tied up several loose ends quite nicely and left the door open for volume four. I’m looking forward to the next book and hope it arrives soon.

Another fantastic addition

this series has enchanted me from start to finiah in every book. the eagerness with which i wait for the next book is palpable. this book does a good job of showing flaws in a suposedly flawless main character. and yea its totally like "i hate this guy for being as cool as he is" but the storily seems to be solid. as is the character developement. buy this if your into adult nerdy things.

Surprising

I picked up this series as a whole after finding the first book randomly in my recommended list. Not knowing what I wanted with the token I had so I spent it.
I find it very well spent too.

Generally speaking I like High Fantasy/ Dark Fantasy Epics and Post Apocalyptic stories.

The aesthetic obviously meets the fantasy prerequisite.
I tend to like deep characters and grounded story and in most of the ones I like a good helping of violence. I felt this series had those things.

The thing I wasn't expecting however was that I enjoyed the sex scenes as much as I enjoyed the rest of it.
All in all I think anyone who is looking for a good story as well as gretiouitous sex and violence will be well placed here with this series. It was purely entertaining if nothing else.

I purchased the 2nd and 3rd books before finishing the first and basically binged all of them.
I am awaiting on tenterhooks for the 4th installment.

Same ole stuff

I’m tired of his bonded women ... they are the least supportive and manipulative lying cunts one can expect and he just grovels and fits things that they cause ... it been me I’d left them in the jungle and walked out and give myself to the twilight zone or just off myself from all the bull he has to endure.

Shay is manipulating his emotions and hides everything from him.. Laina is over bearing and judgmental of everything he does ... the gorgon is just crazy but honestly she upfront about it ... and Prada... she’s the worse and causes more pain than he needs she cause drama and even uses his bonded as playthings and he just lets her ... weak ass beta male bull... terry could be so much more but no he’s so weak to let them decide what to do with his life that it’s sickening...

I understand his place and if I was in it I would listen to my betters and try to understand the world I’m in now but he just lets every woman walk all over him and it’s so frustrating from my point of view.

I like the series, but fuck the main character

I like the series but the every time the main character interacts with the dragon girl he completely transforms into an insufferable pety and vindictive Jack ass.
like when he opens his mouth I just want to shout shut the fuck up you arogent whiny entitled little shit!
but other than that it was fine he was fine in the first two books he really made this one feel like a chore to read through so hopefully the main character is less obnoxious in future books

Fantastic series

I'm loving the series. Usually after a couple of books stories can stagnate ar loose there way. Not here! It continues to progress and the character building is aswom. I honestly can't wait to start the next book. I'm buying it as soon as I've posted this review. Can't recommend enough.
