About this listen

Since the publication of her prize-winning memoir, Craft for a Dry Lake, writer and artist Kim Mahood has been returning to the Tanami desert country in far north-western Australia where, as a child, she lived with her family on a remote cattle station. The land is timeless, but much has changed: the station has been handed back to its traditional owners, the mining companies have arrived and Aboriginal art has flourished.

Bit frustrating as I live kind of close to the story and felt the story is worthy of a better production on audible
Persevering anyway and still enjoying the stories Thankyou from Knx

Cuts in and out like an old record with a scratch

I really enjoyed this book, however, being a 3rd generation Alice Springs person, I found the pronunciation of many place names and aboriginal words cringe worthy. I had to refer to the text to see what the actual reference was. Araluen Arts Centre is prounounced A-RA-LOOO-EN

Also, they should have recorded it again when the reader stumbled a few times.

BUT the book is amazing. I loved hearing about the gorgeous Pam Lofts, about the history of Balgo arts and their adventures in the desert.

Beautiful Story

There’s something wrong with this recording. The reader is cut off mid-sentence and begins another unrelated. Who knows how much of the text is missing and makes it impossible to follow.

Bad recording
