Publisher's Summary

Baking. It can get a guy killed.

When a retired detective superintendent chooses to take a culinary tour of the British Isles, he hopes to find tasty treats and delicious bakes...what he finds is a clue to a crime in the ingredients for his pork pie.

His dog, Rex Harrison, an ex-police dog fired for having a bad attitude, cannot understand why the humans are struggling to solve the mystery. He can already smell the answer - it’s right before their noses.

He’ll pitch in to help his human and the shop owner’s teenage daughter as the trio set out to save the shop from closure. Is the rival pork pie shop across the street to blame? Or is there something far more sinister going on?

One thing is for sure, what started out as a bit of fun, is getting deadlier by the hour, and they’d better work out what the dog knows soon or it could be curtains for them all.

Note: This series of books contain no cussing and graphic descriptions of violence or bedroom activities.

He meets the daughter of the owner of the pork pie cooking place, Donna. The two of them, along with Albert's police trained dog, Rex Harrison, are pulled into the mystery that has a mystery wrapped up into this one. The ensuing story is one of adventure and bits of humour. Charles Robert Fox is fantastic as the narrator who brings this story to life. Fantastic audio and story.

Totally disrespectful of real service dogs

entire premise is lying to make people believe your dog is a service dog when it is not. its done by a retired cop no less. its this kind of attitude causes people to not believe real service dogs are indeed real. despicable.

Entertaining

An old man and his dog make waves in this pork pie investigation. Charming characters. Grateful that the dog's thoughts were just that - thoughts. Amusing moments and some perilous ones. Sit back, relax and enjoy the tale. The copy was provided and I am submitting a voluntary review.

Rex has an attitude

Good story with realistic characters an older retired detective as our hero. Rex the former police dog has an attitude and is hilarious....too bad the humans can't hear him, but luckily we can. I liked that this was regular people and not super heroes are people with mad skills. A good cozy mystery that is entertaining, and believable . The narrator is perfect for this story. First book in the series but with an ending for this story. Enjoy

A great mystery with a cool dog.

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator is the same as some of the blue moon paranormal books and having listened to both I think his voice really suits this series of books better. I could imagine him as Albert. The dog is hilarious especially the bit knowing where to bite. In this book having lost his wife a year ago Albert decides to go on a trip learning how to make his favourite food. His wife always used to cook for him. As a retired Police Superintendent he's quite capable of looking after himself and with his dog Rex Harrison disguised as helping dog he can take Rex just about anywhere. He's booked a lesson to learn how to make pork pies but when a severed thumb is found and it looks like the business will close Albert steps in to help. Great start to the series. Look forward to listening or reading to more. I received a free copy of this book from the author but the review is my own opinion.

Side splitting hilarity from the get go!

This story had me laughing so hard my eyes were watering and my cheeks were hurting. Mixed with the drama of the unraveling events, Rex Harrison had me in stitches! I loved every minute of this story and will be having another go every time I need a good hard laugh! Perfect narration that brought this story to life and kept me listening non-stop straight to the end! Highly recommended!!!
