  • Rose with Liz Knight + Sweet Rose Dukkah Recipe
    Apr 24 2024

What a treat you have in store with today’s episode about the lovely (and, as you’ll see, very yummy!) rose plant. The best teachers breathe love and life into what they’re teaching. And my guest today, Liz Knight, is no exception! She reminds me of a little fairy, with her sparkly smile and deep rooted love of the green world.

I know you’re going to love Liz, the bits of culinary and life wisdom she sprinkled like flower petals throughout our conversation, and last but not least, her wonderful recipe for Sweet Rose Dukkah. (There’s a free, downloadable and printable recipe card available just for you.)

By the end of this episode, you’ll know:

► Twelve hints for working with roses in food and drink

► A surprising way to enhance the taste of olive oil

► A secret for preserving the flavor of dried rose petals

► A to-die-for floral threesome (whether you infuse them into food or just breathe in their scents on a warm morning)

► Three tips for working safely with flowers in food

    ► and so much more…

For those of you who don’t already know her, Liz Knight is a teacher and author from the borders of England and Wales. As a child, she loved gardening and cooking and when she bought a second hand wildflower ID book, complete with hand written notes courtesy of its previous owner about how to eat the plants, her life was sent on a different, more delicious path. In 2021, after 10 years of teaching foraging and running an acclaimed wild food business, her first book about edible wild plants, Forage, was published to global acclaim, selling out in weeks.

If you’d like to hear more from Liz, which I highly recommend, then head to the show notes where you can get easy links for her website and social media channels. You can also find the transcript for this episode in the show notes and you can access your recipe card for Sweet Rose Dukkah at: https://bit.ly/44iuz9V.

I’m thrilled to share our conversation with you today.

    Apr 17 2024

Today’s episode is a little different from the usual.

To give context for newer audience members, Anna Rósa Róbertsdóttir was one of my earliest guests on the podcast. When Anna Rósa was last on the show, she shared a big adventure and new project she was just about to embark on, empowering women in refugee camps in Iraq.

Since we last saw her, that project has been realized and today, Anna Rósa is sharing an update with us. This is a really interesting adventure and you’re definitely going to want to hear about it! We’ll also hear about Anna Rósa’s philosophy on how you can do a lot with very few herbs, which is an important skill for herbalists!

As a listener, you also have access to Anna Rósa’s recipe for an herbal infused Pain Relief Oil. This is one of the recipes Anna Rósa developed at the request of women in the refugee camps. There’s a free, downloadable and printable recipe card available just for you

By the end of this episode, you’ll know:

► The attitude you need to create effective remedies when resources are limited

► How to help budding herbalists build confidence

► Why local herbs are so valuable

► Why cultivating deep knowledge of just a few herbs can be so powerful

► Why Anna Rósa considers Iraq the most hospitable country she’s ever visited

    ► and so much more…

Medical herbalist, wildcrafter, and author, Anna Rósa Róbertsdóttir is the heartbeat and passionate founder behind Anna Rósa Skincare. She hand-picks wild Icelandic herbs to use in her 100% natural, non-toxic, small batch skincare products. Anna Rósa‘s Skincare Collection is a skincare that empowers because she uses the profits to support Helping Herbs, a registered charity in Iceland dedicated to empowering refugee women. As the founder and manager of Helping Herbs, Anna Rósa also works in refugee camps in Kurdistan, Iraq, teaching women to make herbal products. Anna Rósa is the author of Icelandic Herbs and their Medicinal Uses and an online course: The Healing Power of Icelandic Herbs.

  • Creative Ways to Work with Tulsi for Burnout with Rebecca Altman
    Apr 10 2024

In this episode, my bestie, Rebecca Altman, and I dive deeper into one of our favorite herbs for resilience, tulsi (also known as holy basil). While we do talk about what tulsi can do for you, this episode is much more than a simple list of tulsi health benefits!

Instead, we’re showing you how much fun you can have, creatively welcoming tulsi into your life. We share some delectable tulsi recipes and ideas with you. And we share our approach to Building Resilience, which includes not only forming relationships with herbs like tulsi, but also transforming your relationship to stress.

►►► Our four-month online course dives even deeper into these concepts and is perfect for you if you’re tired of feeling chronic stress and daily overwhelm, and you’re ready to live a life with more ease and spaciousness. But hurry! Enrollment for 2024 ends April 10th.

Join us for Building Resilience here:

    ► and so much more…

For those of you who don’t already know Rebecca, she loves connecting people: to the earth, to plants, to each other, and to themselves. The underlying purpose behind all of her work is to help people remember the feeling of living in alignment with who they truly are, and the larger flow of the universe. She has an online school, called Wonder Botanica, where she teaches people how to connect to the earth, the heart path, and the universe; and works with clients individually to connect them to their own inner guidance.

Rebecca lives in the mountains of Southern California, with her dog, and about a million oak trees. Despite so many reasons not to be, she remains steadfastly hopeful about human beings and this incredible planet.

Thank you Rosalee!

I love everything about your wonderful podcast! I discovered you when there were around 4 episodes available and have been listening to you ever since!

You came at a perfect time in my personal herbal journey (near the start while I searched for reliable sources of information) and enjoy learning so much from you while I am in my garden, cooking dinner and going for walks.

Thanks to you I have discovered the HerbMentor website which is fun to explore and watch videos as well as finding great herbal recipes. Thank you for your reliable information and welcoming vibe. I feel like we are friends already!

I would happily recommend you to all the like minded individuals I come across! Again, thank you.
