Story
Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek God. I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. That's when things started really going wrong. Now I spend my time fighting with swords, battling monsters with my friends, and generally trying to stay alive. This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.

THE NARRATION IS AMAZING AND FUNNY
FOR A BOOK THAT LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE IN SOME WAY, I AM GLAD THE NARRATION WAS AMAZING!
I would recommend this book to just about anyone whom is not afraid of a little death!
I gave this book a 5/5 star rating on both here and Goodreads simply because the first book saved me from myself, and fell in love with this amazing series from the moment I read the first page of book one… please read the first book before you read this book.
And don’t forget … doors are for people with no imagination.

Not for the deep thinker, science fantasy fun
What did you like best about Playing with Fire? What did you like least?
Well read and moved along at a good pace. Character descriptions painted a clear picture in the head.
What will your next listen be?
Probably I Claudius, fancy a bit of Roman drama
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Narrator was very good, one of the books strengths
Could you see Playing with Fire being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
No, unless it was a cartoon. Would not get a large enough following.

Excellent book for all ages
The book skullduggery pleasent is an excellent read with adrenalin filled action scenes that are suited to all ages. I particularly liked where the scenes are based in ireland, it suits the way i read very well, Derek Landy shas writen many skullduggery pleasent books and they are all excellently written the way be sets the book and the storyline. Sklduggery plleasent finds a normal school girl called Valkyrie Edgely who doesent really like school, her parents are boaringand she wants some action and excitement in her life. I wont spoil it for some readers but if you want a brilliantly written book by a brilliantly put together author who knows how to appeal a bookto all ages read this book.
One last good thing about the book is if you want a descriptive book that describes all the dark and and famous objects buy this book.
Now we get to some of the not so good chapters in the boo. Now their are only a few of these bad points as the book is basically perfect, in some of the chapters like hanging around chapters like that yes i know its the starting chapter but it could describe a few more things aswell as Valkyrie Cain. But tobknow what im talking about you.must read the book otherwise its an excellent book and i hope you enjoy it.

Great story, well written, funny, dark and just a joy to read and listen to as I've done both now. It's so good to be able to enjoy these incredible stories while doing other things, and considering the age group, this is still enthralling for all ages. If you've not read or heard any skulduggery pleasant before, I implore you to go and grab the first book, you won't regret it!

Review for skulduggery pleasant book 2
Positives:
good plot, much more intricate and interesting plot than the first book
Negatives:
●Good guys and bad guys is overused and it comes off cringy at times
●action scenes are quite repetitive and towards the end I enjoyed it more when they were having conversations than when they were fighting
●the person from London didn't have a very good London accent and the person from texas had a stereotypical american accent not a specific texas accent
●this negative is tiny but I would of liked more description of the torment spider and the grotesquery.
Overall, first book was better but still a fun ride
