About this listen
In a series of penetrating and alarming essays, whose centerpiece is a commentary on the events of September 11, 2001 (deemed then too controversial to publish), Gore Vidal challenges the comforting consensus following September 11th and goes back and draws connections to Timothy McVeigh’s bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City. He asks were these simply the acts of “evil-doers?”

Adjective of a state in decline.
From the perspective of the present day, Gore Vidal describes perfectly how greed, corruption and pacification of the masses have led to monstrous acts against the USA and its citizens by successive governments and their unelected puppet masters, accountable to short term ideologies and a dollar in decline. Sad and prophetic as to how a hegemonic state has engaged so eagerly in its own infanticide and the suffocation of democracy.
