About this listen

Based on 11 years experience, battling severe Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), Dr. Morgan, Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, Ironman triathlete, and student of body movement, has created this 14-week training plan designed to help maintain function, in the face of progressive vascular occlusion.

The audiobook is associated with 33 instructional videos, on the @fitolddog YouTube channel, in the PAD playlist, created by the author over many years of life and Ironman training.

His method is based on growing collaterals through exercise, and improving blood flow by modifying foot mechanics, combined with low impact, whole body, approaches to walking and running.

Each of the 21 training steps is carefully explained, in combination with links to relevant instructional videos on Dr. Morgan's @fitolddog YouTube channel, under the PAD playlist.

Doctor Morgan has demonstrated the effectiveness of his methods, since his first PAD symptoms in 2014. Calf pain and numb feet in marathons. In spite of severe PAD, including 100% blockage of his right popliteal artery, and more, he was third in his age group, 80 to 84, in the 2023 World 70.3 Ironman Championships, in Lahti, Finland.

His work proves self-help can work, if the methods use solid science, including anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics. along with wise training approaches, dedication, and determination.

Dr. Morgan says he welcomes all and any feedback on his new approaches to fighting the ravages of Peripheral Artery Disease. A truly horrible vascular disease!

Dr. Morgan also recommends the training of peer experts, such as himself, to complement the work of physicians, to provide patients with some agency in the treatment of their condition, and to reduce the risk of avoidable amputations.
