Publisher's Summary

The route of the Caledonian Railway through the Scottish countryside is disrupted by a fatal crash. Inspector Robert Colbeck and Sergeant Victor Leeming are called from the crime of London to investigate, and must contend with the old enemy Superintendent Rory McTurk to uncover the criminals behind the disaster.

The motive for the crash is unclear, with suspects including the North British Railway, a group of sabbatarians and those with vendettas to enact. Colbeck and Leeming face further obstacles when the Railway announces a reward of £400 for information – soon they are pitched against criminals and the public in their attempt to solve the case.

Another great Railway Detective story

I loved the story and while the narration was good, I preferred the vocalization of Sgt Leeming by the previous narrators.

Fun but alittle long

Another fun and engrossing rail way detective mystery. The characters and plot line are great. The narration in Marstens stories is always really easy to listen to.

The Railway Detectives most thrilling story yet

Peril on the Royal Train is another example of Edward Marston’s exquisite story writing. It is the ultimate example of a story with contrasts. From the beautifully depicted scenery of the Scottish Countryside, to the devastation caused by the criminals, bent on the most horrific crime! It’s a real rollercoaster of a story. Starting of with what my seem to be a ‘simple’ puzzle, turns into one single piece in a much larger crime! Again the story is so additive and sometimes it catches you off guard with where it’s heading! A great read, highly recommend it!
