Publisher's Summary

Born into hell. Baptism by betrayal.

His life revolves around violence. My life is on the line.

I'm trapped both physically and emotionally. A pawn in a game I didn't know I was playing. Until I met him.

Pike acts without emotion, but I know he feels something for me. I see it in his eyes when he looks at me. I feel it when he's close. I know it's real because I feel it too. Lust. Desire. It complicates everything.

I know that I'm part of Pike's plan for revenge. He doesn't know he's part of mine.

Contains mature themes.

SORRY, BUT THIS WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT

I broke my own rule when I listened to Pike (Book 1 of the Pawn Duet) but, in my defence, I didn’t realize it would be nearly six months before this second book’s release. Now, for me, there’s been many many books in between the two so I had to go back and listen to Pike all over again to refresh. Then I eagerly hit play on this story. Two damaged characters living a twisted life.. Pike has his Shop and drug business on the side.. Mickey is set to carry out her revenge on the people responsible for her family’s deaths - the Leaders of the white supremacy the Fourth Reich. Pike’s emotions are in turmoil over Mickey - can he trust the woman he loves and how far is he willing to go to protect her? Mickey’s emotions are in turmoil with revelations, twists and truths she uncovers.. and both are drawn to the other. Which results in seismic sex.. one of which was aggressive, brutal and caused bloodshed. However, I’m sorry but I just didn’t love this story.. which is a “wow really?” because I’ve loved all her other books.. but with this one I just didn’t feel it. There are also mental health and wellbeing issues in this one too. However, Teddy and Elizabeth did a great job with the dual POV storyline. WORTH A CREDIT? Sorry, for me this time it’s a no.. but, just because this was a bust for me, you may love it.

This book almost broke me, too!

The cliffhanger from Pike took one Hell of a left turn. I was not expecting that and, of course, queue the waterworks. Mick had been through so much already. What a story!!! TM Frazier is so amazing with her writing and character development. I haven't found a book of hers that I don't like. I prefer to listen to her books more than once.
Leave it to Preppy to mKe you laugh in any of the King Series books. He's one-of-kind!

Worth the wait

It had been a while since I read Pike's book so before jumping into Pawn I went back for a refresher. And I'm glad I did, it brought back all kind of memories and I noticed little things that I missed the first time.
This book continues with Pike and Mickey, their unconventional relationship, and the issue of taking down the 4th Reich. As Mickey's memories start to come back, pieces begin falling into place but in order to stop Darrius they are going to need to help of some familiar faces...enter King, Preppy and Nine:)

Great spin-off series to King

First I want to say the editors note at the end is EVERYTHING!

This is book two in the series and the spin-off to the King Series. I love how it keeps all the characters but with a much different story to tell. The story line for both Pike and Pawn have the elements of loss, revenge, mental health and racism (hate groups) and the courage to break free and start over and love. Because this one started with the ending cliffhanger of Pike it gets right to the meat of the story. Mickey finally reveals her truths to Pike which is when the hate group the 4th richt comes in and the gravity of what Mickey's father did to her family, her determination to bring them down at all cost. At the risk of giving away spoilers I will just say T.M. Frazier is awesome, there is plenty of suspense and romance in this story. Awesome narration as well.

3/4 of the book was a recap.

I love TM Frazier and this book is good and yet redundant. I enjoyed the concept though and appreciated the authors note.

Just ok⭐️⭐️⭐️

The female lead voice is to irritating and grating, the story was just too preachy!!!

I loved it

I loved the storyline and the characters! Pawn (Pawn Duet #2) is a great conclusion that’s dark, twisty, and steamy. However, as with most TM Frazier books, there are errors; in one sex scene in a restroom they’re up against the sink, they’re then on a mattress, then up against the sink again, in another, they’re on the beach, then he sits her on the counter, then lies her on the sand. Once you’re used to it, it’s funny but edited these books are not.

Things are not always as they seem

The final chapter in the Pawn Duet (I’m so glad I waited and listened to them back to back, no waiting), I dived straight into this and what a rollercoaster of a ride it was. Lots of surprises. Way too many secrets, and a whole lot of vengeance as Pike and Mickey take on the 4th Richt. Both struggle with trust issues (rightly so), emotions run high, and loyalties are tested. Mickey has a lot of issues to overcome, and to be fair to Pike, he’s willing to stand by her all the way, and I loved him for that. Teddy Hamilton narrates Pike (and any of Mickey’s parts to perfection), Elizabeth Hart, again, is a little wooden and emotionless, initially I thought it was the character she was narrating, but she’s exactly the same when she narrates any of Pike’s words, and we all know that Pike’s emotions most definitely come out in his thoughts and voice.
