En sommarkväll hittas Albert Holm död, liggandes mitt på en väg. Både polisen och de som kände Albert avskriver snabbt det inträffade som en olyckshändelse, orsakad av mannens alkoholvanor. Men dödsfallet leder ändå till spänningar i den lilla fiskebyn. Den unge läkaren Erik Strame, som var en av de första på olycksplatsen, får plötsligt ett anonymt meddelande om att Albert blev mördad, och Strame förstår att någon bland invånarna döljer en fruktansvärd gärning. Arne Schmitz (1928-2011) var en svensk författare och naturfotograf. Han gav ut flera böcker om djur och natur, framför allt med fokus på skånska förhållanden, men han skrev även ett antal deckare.
