Publisher's Summary

Sandpoint. An ordinary town on the Lost Coast of Varisia. When Ezren, Merisiel, Valeros and Harsk arrive, seeking rest from their adventures, it seems the town’s annual Swallowtail Festival will give them what they need - until goblins attack during a ceremony to consecrate the town’s rebuilt church.

After defending Sandpoint, the adventurers discover a sinister plot to return an ancient evil to Varisia. Can they discover the sinister connection between the goblin attack and the removal of mortal remains from a crypt in the town’s graveyard?

This is just the beginning of a new quest for the iconic Pathfinder characters Ezren, Merisiel, Valeros and Harsk. The Rise of the Runelords begins with burnt offerings - and only four heroes stand against it.

Too short

It was really good for what it was. The performance was great and the soundtrack and sound effects were appreciated.

My problem was with the length. The whole thing was around 1 hour. I used a credit, but if I'd paid for it outright it would have been a price I really regretted paying. Still this credit would have been better spent on a longer story.

the time length is a lie

last 10 and first 5 minutes are just music good but it's not entirely long so if 1/5th of it is theme music it's kinda disappointing

Too costly for what you get

While I really enjoyed the story (having played through RuneLords myself)! That said it's simply not worth the cost. @ $13/episode - nearly $80 for the full story. With each episode being around 70 minutes (of which 10-15m is music filler at the beginning and end) the full story (all 6 books) is maybe 6hrs long. These should be offered as a single Audiobook (single credit). Until then - I'm going to ask for credit back as it simply isn't worth it. Ben

great story but pricy and lots of filler

fun and enjoyable. voice actors were wonderful. the 10 mins of music at the end seemed out of place though and was kinda boring yo listen to. also could we not make it 15 dollars a book?

Wish it were a little longer

I play the Pathfinder RPG and have also played through the Rise of the Runelords campaign, so I did rather enjoy this story but I did seem a little rushed. It could have done with more character and story development, and there's soooo much opportunity to do that with the story as it's presented in the source material. So overall I thought it was okay but a missed opportunity to be really great.

Only issue is the length of the audio book

I wish this came with 3 chapters of the rise of the runelords story rather than one then u would have been worth the money.

written while driving so using talk to text

a decent telling of the 1st book of RotRL but all of the combat is just noise, they don't describe it in any way shape or form. Overall I did not really like this. Also definitely not worth a credit as it's quite short. should've been all 5 or 6 adventures as one complete story.

Good performance but no description

The cast do a great job at acting their part, but there is no narration explaining where they are or detailing what is happening.

Pathfinder Legends1.1

What would have made Pathfinder Legends - Rise of the Runelords 1.1 Burnt Offerings better?

Poor accents, too many "amusing asides" which I found to be tedious.

What could Mark Wright have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not a lot, poor story

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Acting was terrible especially the American accent

Any additional comments?

All very stereotypical and full of clichés. Not at all enjoyable, I didn't even get to the end before stopping.

Good, but lacking

its a good abridged story of the first chapter of rise of the Runelords, however it is lacking in direction l. the characters seems to jump from place to place, if there was more narration, a simple 'upon returning to the rusty dragon' instead of just changing the background noise and jumping there. I think having Harsk interacting with Shelelu would have been interesting too. Also some narration during battles rather than just noise and having the characters imply what they have done or will do would have been better, like 'the flurry of attacks from the goblins were fast, but lacked the finesse to hit their mark' something to draw the listener into the danger and tension rather that a few metal swishes and clinks, especially if you are paying about £16 for a hour of content.
