Publisher's Summary

Hadjar Darkhan heeded the call of his dragon heart. His path was dangerous, full of hardships and bitter losses. And when he came close to reaching his goal, he lost everything instead....

Hadjar survived the bloody war for the throne of his homeland. He fought against monsters and enemies that made entire generations tremble in fear. He traversed the vast Sea of Sand, found the mythical Mage City, and witnessed the destruction of an ancient civilization. Then, in the pursuit of knowledge, Hadjar came to Dahanatan, the capital of the Empire.

Hadjar had thought his goal was worth the sacrifice, but now he wasn't so sure. He'd made too many mistakes, lost too much, and paid too high a price by unquestioningly heeding that inexorable call. Had it all been for nothing? What if Hadjar Darkhan was just an ordinary fool who'd found his supposed destiny somewhere it had never been in the first place? No convenient answers were forthcoming....

Russian story teller is amazing.

I found this series 2 years ago. It's an amazing story that has a very long and detailed world history. stuff that's talked about in the first book was mentioned in this book. I super excited to see where Hajar goes next.

disgusted

I'm sad to say that I really liked all the books up until this point as the growth of the character was the main thing even if somethings didn't make sense because every time that he conquers himself and his will get stronger it somehow falters at any given time but through the last book when he turned down the opportunity of amazing power by refusing to kill a child however in this book it goes to complete opposite direction within the first couple hours I'm very disappointed that every time you throw growth of a character it somehow gets turned on its head and was proven to be worthless the last time it discussed me
