Publisher's Summary

The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

In The Path of Daggers, the eighth novel in Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al'Thor engages in battle wearing the Crown of Swords and wielding Callandor against a force unprepared for the wrath of the Dragon Reborn.

The Seanchan invaders are heading for Illian—and Rand's army of Asha'man soldiers. When they meet in battle, some of the Asha'man are afflicted by madness, unable to control their channeling and unleashing raw power.

The madness extends to Rand himself. He has been hearing the voice of a man believed to have been the previous Dragon Reborn. Besieged by visions and debilitated whenever he uses the One Power, Rand chooses to attack the Seanchan with Callandor. The sword consumes him with a berserker rage, felling ally and enemy alike. And when he regains his senses, Rand finds himself less trusted by those who were once the most loyal.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

repetitive and unclear

the narrator continues to be excellent, but the story bogged me down....so much repetition....the women always looking daggers at each other, and rimging their hands. so much distrust, maybe it was a bridging book, but i felt there was not much forward momentum and the story was getting confused in a quagmire of stalemate. Sadly this book has turned me off the series and made me not finish it. maybe in a year or so i might pick it up again

Lost it’s way, just look at Wikipedia

Not a lot happens in this book. The events could’ve been condensed into a few chapters. I feel by this point Robert Jordan had lost his way with the narrative, getting bogged down in details that hindered the overall flow and suspense.

This is a common fault with successful fantasy authors, the get lost in the worlds they create and lose sight of their original aims.

Ready the wiki entry and move to the next book.

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are excellent as ever

Feels like half a book

Like the other Wheel of Time books this book is swamped with an excess of characters. This leads to little plot development. The Path of Daggers feels like half a book, as most of the plots are all left hanging.
The few that are feel anticlimactic.
The characters continue to be shallow with few redeeming qualities, with the exception of Perrin.
Rand shows little thought, gratitude or kindnesses to those who risk their lives for him.
When compared to the skilled character development of authors like Robin Hobb it is hard to see why this series is so popular.

little flat

This book is a little flat compared to the books before it. Its a filler and not much happens but, the constant nagging of all the female characters seems to lesson which is great.

Classic series for any fantasy lover

I dislike that the woman are portrayed as so emotionally unstable written from a males perspective. You have to treat it with humor!

Another amazing book.

If you love fantasy, this series is for you! Where Tolkien started, Jordan certainly finished it

The middle

This book is the middle of the story where lots of plot developments happen, people travel a long way and the story begins to set up the ending. It's the hard part after the excitement of the beginning and before the triumph of the ending. I can't wait for the next chapter

Jumbled

Lots of short stories with little cohesiveness. This is where Jordan really loses his way. We know it gets better but the worst in the series so far
