look it's a bit problematic

I'm fascinated by the story even though it's objectively not great.
The main character is a total Mary Sue. Constantly describing how perilous his next plight is as he comes across them but then, with no real inconvenience to him, he somehow manages to overcome them anyway through sheer force or plot.
Also the way the story contrives, through plot, to convince the reader that everyone is better off when women are subservient to men. It try's to get away with this by having the main character disagree or not understand and the women themselves argue this is true. That's a bit frustrating because the world is interesting and some of the law and practices, creatures and concepts are really captivating. I think there could be a good story here in the hands of a more intelligent writer.
