Story
A tragic accident leaves the tight-knit book club in the small seaside town of Fairweather reeling. Then stranger Tom McLysaght arrives in the community, and the members of the club find their lives changing in ways they never could have imagined. None of them realise that Tom is hiding a secret. On the surface, his move to Fairweather was to escape his highflying life in London and to put some much-needed distance between him and his ex-fiancée - but deep down Tom knows that there are some things he cannot run from.

Story
It's their 20-year school reunion but the Plunkett sisters have their own reasons for not wanting to attend. Caroline, now a successful knitwear designer, spends her time flying between her business in England and her lover in Italy. As far as she's concerned, her school days, and what happened to her the year she left, should stay in the past. Eleanor, meanwhile, is unrecognisable from the fun-loving girl she was in school. With a son who is barely speaking to her, and a husband keeping a secret from her, revisiting the past is the last thing on her mind.

Third party narrative .. very annoying

Publisher's Summary
Don't miss the stunning new novel from Cathy Kelly about sisterhood, love and friendship - The Wedding Party is available to pre-order now!
Three women. Three secrets. Three tangled lives....
Sid wears her independence like armour. So when she strikes up a rare connection with unlucky-in-love Finn, they are both determined to prove that men and women can just be friends. Can't they?
Marin has the perfect home, attentive husband, two beloved children - and a secret addiction to designer clothes. She knows she has it all, so why can't she stop comparing herself to other women?
Bea believes that we all have one love story - and she's had hers. Now her life centres around her son, Luke, and her support group of fierce single women. But there's something that she can't tell anyone....
With her inimitable warmth and wisdom, Cathy Kelly shows us that in the messy reality of marriage, family and romance, sometimes it's the women in our lives who hold us together.
Critic Reviews
"A burst of warmth and wit, twists and turns." (Marian Keyes)
"This is Cathy Kelly on top form writing about warm, believable women with real, messy lives." (Rachel Hore)
"Other Women captures the stories of three modern women.... A real feel-good read." (Heat)

Deceptively good!
I'll admit it took maybe the first 3rd of the book for me to really get into it. I found it a bit disorienting with the fast pace of the narrator (which either got better or I got used to it) and the sheer amount of characters/names thrown around of characters that relate to one of the 3 main ladies. And even after I got into it a bit more, there would be a character who I'd think "wait, pause, who is this in relation to Sid/Marran/Bee??"
But overall it was enjoyable and once the stories started interconnecting I felt more and more compelled to find out how it all ends.
Which was extremely satisfying!! Nate and Marren's mother drove me insane!! So glad at least one of them got what was coming to them!!

Another fantastic Cathy Kelly story
Cathy Kelly is one of my favourite Irish authors. Having her latest novel read by Aoife McMahon with her lilting Irish accent, has added an extra layer of depth to another wonderful Irish story. In “Other Women”, Ms Kelly manages to address some very difficult topics with sensitivity and respect. I highly recommend “Other Women”- especially to other women! 😉

My usual genre is crime fiction. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this. It’s a good story, well written. The characters are well drawn and the women strong. Aoife McMahon’s narration was faultless and a joy to listen to as always. I will try other books by this author.
