About this listen

St Jude's is a small church in an English village, deconsecrated, and waiting for someone to claim it now that the Christian community has declared it to be obsolete. Like all old churches, it has been a place of mourning, and many people lie buried within its curtilage. Some do not rest in peace. Famous among the unhappy souls is a child murdered in the Middle Ages—the church has been there since the Normans invaded England. His death was blamed on local Jewry with terrible consequences. Now there is a storm and a washing away of many years of tradition to reveal what lies beneath: ancient stones and older customs. A small group of archaeologists are invited to explore the church and its history. They should remember that St Jude is the patron saint of hopeless causes.

Opened Ground is a ghost story flavoured by the history of this land. It is a story rooted in tragedy and ambition from a time when superstition governed behavior. It is a murder story from the past and a thriller for the present.
