About this listen

After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty.

Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust.

Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Even if it means keeping a secret so big, it could destroy everything.

They need an army. They need power. They need magic. And they need the one thing only Violet can find—the truth.

But a storm is coming...and not everyone can survive its wrath.

Look, I’m not gonna pretend I listened quietly—I yelled “YOOO” more than once. This was a ride. Killer plot twists, juicy secrets, and that kind of tension that makes you want to punch something (in a good way). The voice acting? Chef’s kiss. The sound mixing at the start was muddled. Music distracted from the core narration. Fortunately, it adjusted.

Soundtrack Was Meh—But Hot Damn, That Voice Acting

I got very confused as the end but the story was interesting and I look forward to the next one.

I love the different voices and the action

I am such a fan of this series I literally listen/ read it on repeat. The Dramatised Adaptation was eagerly awaited for by many, but I’m disappointed that in both Part 1 & Part 2 there are multiple lines voiced by the wrong character. It’s so off putting when you know the storyline!
Apart from that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this novel and series. Seriously addicted!
The storyline is hot, dangerous and so in depth that multiple reads later I’m still finding myself having “oh wow” moments!
Such an amazing read, 5 stars for the storyline and 4 stars for performance!

Absolutely love the Series- Narrators need to confirm dialogue!!

I listened to the book whilst reading. I loved it. I can’t go back to normal audio now that there’s graphic audios. It’s an experience. All the actors were fantastic. And the story… well that’s another matter. I think we all know how it ended and I’m being patient now. So good. Feels like you’re being edged

The acting was impeccable

Fabulous, fast paced, and delicious as always. The voice actors are beyond compare in these dramatised adaptations.

I flew through the physical copy of this book in one night, so I waited very impatiently for these dramatic adaptations! I'm currently gloriously book-hungover, and it's well-deserved. The series is, as always, well-written, and the full cast of voice actors was absolutely amazing.

But seriously, a word of caution: I was listening to the Imogen POV chapter while doing my shopping in the supermarket—poor life choice! Damn, that scene hit even harder with the full soundscape and performance of the Graphic Audio production!

Book-Hangover in the Best Way

I loved the story, the engagement was consistent and the voice actors have truly nailed it and set the scene so well and embodied the characters

The beautiful flow of characters

Khaya Fraits is absolutely unreal. I think she embodies the personality of Violet perfectly, and it'll be really hard for me to watch the series without hearing Khaya's voice. Michael obviously is also awesome, but really the whole cast. I don't think people realize how difficult it is to have so much passion and emotion in an audiobook to capture an audience so fully- that being said, editing team 👏👏 you guys with all the sounds and music perfectly timed making me feel like I'm fully immersed in whatever scene we are in. lastly, It should go without saying that RY is a queen, I have registered to this book and the others multiple times, and there's always something I've missed. I hope you never put the pen down for good.

plot🤌 cast 🤌 editing team 🤌
