Publisher's Summary

Blackmailed by his sister into giving a Christmas house party to celebrate her recent marriage, Edward Greyston, Marquess of Winterbourne, is quite certain the next few days will be an utter nightmare.

Nightmares, however, are something Edward is all too familiar with. After the bloody battle of Waterloo, he has returned from the war a changed man, full of rage and guilt.

Suspecting one of his house guests, the bluestocking Belinda Holbrook is about to trap unsuspecting and gullible Lord Nibley into marriage, he goes to warn him, only to get caught himself.

Furious but honor bound to do the right thing, Edward finds himself married to a woman he doesn't trust and knows nothing about, and he has no intention of trying to find out more.

Yet Belinda is made of sterner stuff and refuses to be afraid of the angry man she married. Somehow she determines to melt icy Lord Winterbourne's frozen heart, and she's prepared to be wicked to do it.

Emotionally fulfilling.

I’ve read every book in this series and hear it come alive with the astounding voice talent of Philip Bartley allowed me to fall in love with this book once more. Emma V. Leech put so much emotion into this story and Philip elevated it further by bringing the story to life with his soulful voice. I can say without a doubt that I will be listening to this book over and over till the next is released.

Books 1-10

**Review's for books 1-10**
Narrator did a very good job giving life to all character's and distinguishing them.

Book 1- Very good story kept me riveted and engaged from start to finish and looking forward to more.
Book 2- Same as the first.
Book 3- Really loved this tale over the 1st and 2nd.
Book 4- So far this one is my most favorite amongst the 10 I've read. I absolutely adored Beau and Millie.
Book 5- This is where thing's start going south for me. I just loved Aubrey in the previous books but he was too young and submissive for my taste in this one. The whole story lacked EVERYTHING it's previous stories did. I also didn't like Violette.
Book 6- Was a chore and found Edward and Belle a bit boring and more wanting to know more about Clercy instead.
Book 7- Here's where I really get upset! Half or more of this book I had already read in book 6!! This is a huge pet peeve of mine when author's do this because we're not getting a FULL fresh book at all but still paying for something we've already bought!! UGH!! This story was beyond ridiculous also and I truly hated it. It left me mad and upset.  Gabriel was such a weak "hero" that I laugh at even thinking him to be considered one. He's actually the opposite of a hero. Clercy was portrayed too perfect and accepting, which I was expecting to see more, even a damn ghost or two but NADA!! Although I appreciated her blunt approach, she's just far too young and inexperienced to be so "perfect " which made this entire story just too far fetched and unbelievable.
Book 8- Again, another submissive Male which is a turn off and a female that's unremarkable. Predictable tale with nothing new.
Book 9- I enjoyed this one and hoped that the author found her lost mojo of bringing back the joy I found in the first few of the series.
Book 10- I was wrong because this was yet again a huge disappointment. I will stop here and save my money and time on finding another author.

Best of the Best

Ms Leech writes with such emotion the story keeps you involved. Loved the connection between the two sisters. The love story was so poignant the h fought so hard to give peace and sanity to the H. However, the story would not be so enjoyable without the narrator. His different characters’ voices were spot on but as an actor he gave deep feeling to the narrative. His narrative relayed sadness, joy and passion. Many narrators can give a different voice to characters but few can relay the emotional sparks that translates to an awesome listen. I don’t understand why Mr. Battley doesn’t replace all those silly lady narrators that only give a throaty swallow narrative. He is one of the best. Great performance for an awesome book. This from audible addict who is tired of narratives that have one emotional element. I want more books read with the depth of emotion offered by Philip Battley. Give this a listen it has it all passion, danger, mystery and family. This series is awesome take it from me who had to purchase them all. Can’t get enough of EL ‘s books. When I’m down I go back and listen to her books and instantly I am involved in the action of a truly romantic adventure that warms the soul and tugs at the heart.

Wonderful

I have found a new favorite author. I have never read anything from EVL, but have now read all of the books on audible and can't wait for the entire series to be available.
The writing is honest, clear and does not use misunderstandings or odd characters to fill out the plot. In this novel the problems of the human condition are enough to drive the plot. The author also gives an amazing understanding of PTSD and how two people work through this issue with intelligence and love. The character development is great and it takes the reader along for a wonderful ride.
The narration is okay and a male voice for such a strong heroine works well.
I can't say enough about this book. I just loved it and would compare it with Mary Balaug/Loraine heath /lisa kleypas . A complex relationship that makes readers appreciate how love can help and heal.

Fantastic Story, Narrator Takes Getting Used To

As always with this author the story doesn’t disappoint and, in fact, I’d say this particular story is one of my favourite books of her historical series. My one negative would have to be the narrator. He reads the story well however his voice impressions of the characters takes some getting used to, the females in particular! However you find after a while you do not hear this as much and just get immersed in the fantastic world and narrative this author has a skill in making. Well worth buying and giving a go if you love this authors work and, like me, want to indulge your love of books whilst at the same time actually getting some work done!!
