About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Read by award-winning narrator Jeff Harding.

**NOW A MAJOR PRIME TV SERIES STARRING ALAN RITCHSON**

Six shots. Five dead.

A heartland city thrown into terror. But within hours the cops have it solved. A slam-dunk case. Apart from one thing. The accused gunman refuses to talk except for a single phrase:

Get Jack Reacher for me.

Reacher lives off the grid. He's not looking for trouble. But sometimes trouble looks for him. What could connect the noble Reacher to this psychopathic killer?

_________

Although the Jack Reacher can be listened to in any order, One Shot is the 9th in the series.

‘Jeff Harding’s [...] narration captures Reacher’s character perfectly [...] you have to savour every minute.’ The Sunday Times

Critic Reviews

'Lee Child is often mistaken for a US writer, so skilfully and enthusiastically has he embraced the idiom of the American thriller ... One of the genre's finest practitioners.'
'The Jack Reacher series of thrillers...are all hugely exciting, and knowledgeable about weapons and technology. They exude a powerful sense of right and wrong. We've seen him...as a righter of wrongs and always as God's gift to women.'
'Child's strengths are fast-moving dialogue and gripping action sequences ... The excitement lasts from the first to the final page.'
'Reacher sees justice done while kicking commendable amounts of ass ... Intricate plotting makes for an engrossing read.'
'First-rate thriller, with the imperturbable Reacher meting out his brand of justice to the villains.'
'Hot, indomitable...pure, escapist gold.'

The musical brakes at the high points was annoying, but even with that the story was amazing.

What I think, which isn't important.

Okay as many people have said this book is the one they based the first Tom Cruise movie, Jack Reacher, on. I liked the movie, I’m a person who really likes movies because I’m dyslexic. But listening to the book is just as good. They changed the movie enough that listening to the book gives you another perspective. My biggest problem was in the other books I picture Jack Reacher to be as Lee Child describes him. During this book I had a conflict over Child’s description and the portrayal by Tom Cruise. It really bugged me because Tom is definitely not tall enough or muscular enough for the part but he did inhabit the roll.

All in all it was a really good book and one did enjoy. People always think that the book was much better, in this case it was better but not by much. If you’ve seen the movie, I’d still give this book a go, like I said it’s good. If you haven’t then definitely one to listen to. 4 stars.

Yes it is the movie but …
