About this listen
He burned me once.
This time, I won’t be the one consumed by the flames.
Torren King is rock-and-roll’s broodiest bachelor.
Mysterious, moody, and coveted by nearly everyone.
But to me, he’s just the sad boy who set fire to my heart,
then reduced me to ashes in the desert.
For four sweltering nights, I burned for him,
and he conquered my heart one whispered lyric at a time.
But on the fifth night, he shattered me in the way only a flawless rock god can:
irreparably, and with devastating finesse.
Four years later, the last place I expect to be is sitting before him,
reading through a contract with a pen poised in my fingertips.
A favor for a favor, he says.
A US tour and a fake relationship in exchange for the answer to all my problems.
I hate him. I hate that I need him.
And what I hate the most?
He doesn’t remember me. At all.
But despite the burning chemistry between us,
the rapidly blurring lines and the suffocating attraction,
He’s still the rock star who ruined me.
I refuse to let myself forget.

©2024 Brit Benson (P)2024 Brit BensonI made it to chapter 42 before I finally couldn't contain my rage any longer and quit. I really liked the first book in this series and was looking forward to Torrens story and learning more about his tumultuous relationships with his brother and mother. unfortunately this book didn't deliver that. it was just 4 hours of Callies insufferable inner dialogue. I don't think ive hated an FMC more than I hate Callie. She is just so cringe. She literally made stuff up in her own head, that wasn't even true and then got mad at everyone because of crap she just invented but m9st of yhe time, didn't actually tell anyone why she was mad at them, she just sulked and acted like a petulant child. She hated Savannah because Sav used to be in a toxic relationship with Torren. Even though Sav had moved on and people told Callie over and over that it was over and most of it was made up by the paparazzi, she still hated Savannah, for literally no reason.
Then there was the weird 3 some. Torren spent the whole book, right up until right before this little plot point, being all jealous and posseive everything Jonah even looked at Callie, then all of a sudden he's all for letting Jonah share her. It just didn't make any sense.
I was so disappointed in this book. It could have been so good, but not delving more into Torrens history was a let down and a missed opportunity in my opinion.
But mostly, I just loathed Callie and was disappointed that she woke up after stealing Savannah's car and crashing it.
I hate Callie
