Publisher's Summary

At six years old, Myla was sent to a family her father and mother had chosen for her when they knew their time on Earth was almost up. They were unaware that what they thought would be her safe haven would become her living hell.

Kai has been watching Myla from afar since he took over the family business from his father and inherited the responsibility of keeping her safe. When word gets back to Kai that not only is Myla in danger but his assets are also being compromised, he immediately jumps into action and does the only thing that can be done at the time: He marries her.

Neither Myla nor Kai would have thought that something that started off as a farce would become the most important thing either of them could have ever done.

4.5 Obligation Stars

I reallllly liked this book vs the first book. The characters were more mature and acted as adults and not teenagers. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind a good YA novel or even New Adult but when you have 25 and up you want them to be a little more mature...

So yes this book was what I had hoped the first one would have been like. I am all swoony over Kai, I am telling you who wouldn’t what a man that’s sole reason is to protect you and not only that but makes you feel like you are the most and only beautiful thing to ever grace his presence.

I loved the connection between Myla and Kai it wasn’t instant but you could tell they were drawn to each other.

I will say I did find the story to be a little choppy. Whether that was deliberate or if the writer just wants the story to move along so that it wasn’t too long or what, I wasn’t a fan of that. I would rather have a longer book with more details then to feel like you’re missing chunks of the story.

Loved the narration two of my favorite narrators right here, they do a great job. Again … Kai... Man what a fantastic character.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Loved Kai and Myla!

I always find great enjoyment reading a book by Aurora Rose Reynolds, and I know it may not always work for everyone with the instalove factor, alpha heroes and some cheesy eye roll moments but that's precisely what I love about her books because she does it SO well!! I loved that Kai and Myla had a childhood connection, and like a dark angel, he has been watching over her. I loved how OTT protective Kai was with Myla yet so brutal to his enemies.

I listened to the audiobook and loved Lidia Dornet and Sebastian York together!

Reads like an outline

This book is SO choppy that it sounds like a plot outline versus an actual novel. There are no transitions and it feels like full chapters are missing which makes it impossible to relate to the characters. There is next to no Sebastian York in this and the female narrator sounds like she has a mouth full of spit. I don’t recommend this one, though this author has some other nice books.

You got me, it's awesome

This is a romantic, love story with action and drama, and alpha males that don't listen lol

Myla was groomed and brought up in a world of love and happiness, but as a child he has memories of leaving her real parents. When the story of her being an heiress to a Russian empire and any man who claims her will receive the rewards. When she is saved from her step brother by Kai a man with power that exceeds anyone expectations, she not only has to teach him how to be a partner but how to protect herself from him as well. Only she understands his true self.

Kai is powerful, rich and he doesn't need to ask permission for anything or from anyone, he does what he wants and he gets the job done. At the young age of ten he knew who has his heart. When events from his past, lead him back to the girl he once promise to protect to the woman he had to save. Kai decides that keeping his one and true love safe maybe only possible if he leaves her again. Neither will not survive though.

Story with no point

I'm pretty sure the author did not know where to take this story. It was scattered and not very well thought through. questions were not answered. had to fast-forward a couple of times to get through it. don't waste your time on this one

Another good book.

I enjoyed this book a lot, i loved the plot, it was very exciting. It was a little mysterious, a little suspenseful, that kept me on the edge of my seat. Though, there were a few serious topics that had me shed a tear or two. Especially when Myla told her husband Kai about what happened to her as a teenage girl. Kai’s way of loving and protecting Myla is admirable, made me wonder where I can find a guy like Kai. Great series, very enjoyable and worth reader’s time.

Good but predictable.

Good story but full of gaps in the background, and too predictable. The first book was similar. I hope the third will fill in a bit of information. A nice light listen. Lidia did a great job with her narration, including a very slight Hawaiin accent. As another reviewer pointed out, it seems Sebastian may have been hired just to help sell the book. As much as we all love his voice, he doesn't do accents. He also had such a minor part that it didn't seem worthwhile. Please don't use the guy without a good reason. I'd hate to get tired of his voice.

I really like this series

I like this series. The only issue I have is near the beginning of the book it goes from Myla being attacked to all of a sudden she's married to Kia. There is no story of why they got married until much later in the book. It was like you were dropped in the middle of a chapter. Kind of confusing.
